Alright here is the story....I Sold my MacBook on ebay (to pay for tacoma mods)
But anyways I shipped it out to a guy in the states and when he recieved it he is telling me that there is no MacBook and that there is 2 rolls of packing wrap in there instead.

He even took a picture and sent it to me.
Now I'm wondering, did he just take the computer out(plus paypal reciept and original MacBook reciept) and say that's what he got Or did someone in the postal outfit take it? Since it has been repacked with shipping supplies that's what makes me belive it was someone at usps or canada post?

    Opinions?

Was it insured? I would tell him to file a claim, it's out of your hands.

Do you have a receipt with the weight? Won't help him, but at least you can say that you shipped "something" different from what he recieved (if the weight is not exactly the same).

Would handle the rest over insurance-only problem he received it and signed for it now...

Yup I have the reciept. I insured it for the maximum amount canada post would let me. 1000 dollars.
I had packed the MacBook in a box within a box with crunched up news paper on all four sides. I went a little over board! The entire package weighed 9.3 pounds. When he took the picture there was bubble wrap in there also. I didn't even use any!
So should I tell him to file a claim?

    Wow, that sucks.
I would say your only proof would be your receipt since it should have the shipping weight on it. Then, hopefully it was insured, so let the insurance handle it.
I would not expect something like this from the local post office - that would be a shame.
In South Africa where I am from this happens all the time, but at least it is expected based on experience.

Edit: we posted the same time. I see you have the weight. That's a good start. Good luck.

He's telling me he wants a picture of the reciept. So I will send him that.
Here I was all excited about having installed my supercharger last nite and I wake up to this.

The buyer is scamming you. There are numerous stories on the web about this scam, like this.

Please let us know how it all works out, but expect that in the end, you will lose both the laptop and your money. eBay has made it very easy for buyers to scam sellers with "Item received not as described".

Honestly; the buyer could have just opened up the box him/herself and took the contents out and replaced them, then took up to you to try to get a free computer.

I'd tell them they're shit out of luck if they don't have a video of them opening up the box and showing the contents.

Video would do nothing. There's nothing stopping someone from opening a package, removing the contents, resealing and then starting the video.

It would. You could tell if there was any difference in the way you packaged it to the way it was in the video.
Tape would come up easier, box would be ripped, contents (paper he balled up), anything out of the ordinary.

And what would that do? It's still your word against his. Just like the story linked above (I'm taking a wild guess you didn't read it), it's all about the buyer for ebay.

As stated, the insurance will hopefully cover the OP. I don't see much more that can be done.

    The better coast
Look at your shipping receipt. There should be a weight of the item on there.

This is getting high tech boys. I will try to locate the address somehow. Is there anyway i can look it up myself to see if it has been logged on anywhere?
