Are political threads still banned?

I have a serious issue with how Asgard is governed

...every forum i'm a member of allows political debate/discussion/etc (one of which i'm a moderator of... ), etc... this forum is THE exception, based on the modstaff rules w/ a defacto 100% ban...

..."politics" is, whether fortunately or unfortunately, is seemlessly intertwined in our everyday lives - a continuum of sorts, ...there really is no escaping it... the ambient level of divisiveness has reached new highs, and will escalate in the coming months... it can get nasty but bottling it up can be just as bad... a private subforum for politics (perhaps cloaked from general public view, i.e. members not logged in, if desired) would be a bit of relief IMO

i like this forum, ...i was just expressing my 0.02 in the spirit of the thread topic... a "politics" subforum is a natural component to "off topic" area, and is commonly found in other forums, including ones built around cars/trucks/etc... just making a statement, ...no need to attack...

No-It's not a "natural" part of anything here. There are folks who are capable of having a civil discussion and gaining some understanding from each other-but the vast majority of folks don't like being told they as wrong or want to be "convinced" of another way of thinking...and that leads to copious frustration, CoC violations, and the locking of nearly every thread under the "politics" heading.
While there are element of politics in every facet of life-That doesn't mean we need to highlight it for discussion here.

And honestly-As a mod another board-I would think you would understand that turning our job into babysitting is just silly. On TW, with politics involved, the staff was having to babysit...so we fixed the problem. There are tons of other places that anyone can browse to get their political fix.
