Trying to narrow down the age of this bottle. I was given this bottle of Southern Comfort and I know its old. It is also unopened and I don't know if I want to crack it open or not... I don't know if there are any people that either know or might help point to the right direction. From what I can guess I am guessing no older then 74 years... Here are some pics:

I have tried, but my results turned inconclusive for the Missouri tax. All I could find was the current stats, but nothing for the post-prohibition era... I just didnt know if there were any people here that might have an idear.. Some Alcohol historians so to speak

Do you have a picture of the federal tax seal strip that is not shown? This could help narrow down the age.

Is the company still in business?? Email them the code on the side of the label and see if they can tell you.....

Which sticker? There is an IRS Distilled Spirits sticker on the cap, What does it look like?

I havent tried that but I guess that is an avenue to take..

Correct, it is a Missouri Bottle

That bottle could be just 10 years old. It looks the same as when we used to steal SoCo from my friends' parents in high school. I'd be surprised if it was more than 20 years old.

I thought about that to, but I found it odd with the IRS seal, and the MO tax sticker on there... Now there is a seal (the one with the gold seal, dated March 6, 1935 for the sealing quality so I know it cant be older than that but I just dont know about the historical laws for booze in MO

The Internal Revenue seal is the Federal seal I mentioned. Post a picture of the opposite side that is not shown in your original picture.

Just take a ride to a local package store, not the Piggly Wiggly or Circle K, a real liquor store. An old timer behind the counter could help ya out.

On the side that is not pictured is there an Eagle with nothing to either side of it?

During 1945 and thereafter the Federal Tax Seals have the word SERIES to the left, and 111 printed to the right of the Eagle's feet.

If it is not there, this will give you an idea of the bottles age. (pre-1945)

i've seen soco bottles with that style of label in advertisements dating to the early 50's

i don't know how long that label was in production but around there some time i bet

.... soco is cheap at the liquor store... save that bottle and put it on display somewhere, don't open it.

There is an eagle, and it does have the Series 111 digits...

So its not as old as I hoped... Suppose its possible to get a closer date?

... its still sealed. I have been debating but I think I might just keep it closed now
