Kicked out my roommate

So I kicked out my roommate today Its something I had to do. I didn't feel good about doing it but I was being taken advantage of. We came to agreement in Dec of 07 that he would pay 300 + utilities. 7 Months later he owes me $1500.00 I gave him the rest of the month to move out. I feel like this will ruin our friendship. I have given him warnings about it and nothing changed. I'm mad and very disappointed about the situation he put me in. Who knows what he's told all the people we both know. The whirlwind begins. Would you have done the same?

 

Hell Yeah...Do you have any kind of formal agreement with him?? Cause the part that sucks is his failure to pay is going to hurt your credit if the lease is only in your name...

 

I bought a house he was renting a room, verbal agreement.

 

I can't kick out my roommate. She'll break up with me and after that, I won't be able to see her boobs.

As for your situation...I would've kicked that guy out too.

 

Ahh...slightly less bad- but still sucks.

Doing business with friends and family is dangerous...Kind sucks that it's coming down to this...but it's for your financial well being...

 

If he isn't paying like hes supposed too kick his ass out. To hell with shitty roommates. I've had more than my share of experience with this sort of thing. Get your money and be done with it.

 

He screwed up when he decided not to pay you. And if it does ruin the relationship and you want to get your money back, small claims court is probably your best course of action.

 

He's the one that should feel bad..He's the 1 that screwed YOU over!

You did the right thing. Good luck getting your money out of him. The best you can probably hope for is not to lose any more. Get yourself a roommate that pays when he/she is supposed to.

I've had two experiences with bad roommates. In both instances, everybody was friends before hand (and in one, we're all still friends). What I've learned is that, even if you're GREAT friends... PUT IT IN WRITING. There needs to be a lease, and it needs to have all of the important terms and be signed by everybody involved.

Anyway... you did the right thing.
