I wonder, does one need permission to make an "Official" thread? If not, I am going to start adding "Official" to all of my thread titles.

I always find it interesting when someone claims they get 4 mpg better on 91 with no ethanol. That is saying you get a 20% decrease in gas mileage for adding 10% ethanol. That is saying the ethanol is not combustible and that it hurts the combustion of the gas another 10%. Sorry it just doesn't happen. You might see a 5% decrease in mpg with ethanol.

    Morning everyone.

Talking about ethanol, i found that most marinas have ethanol free 91 and 93 octane gas as well as gas stations near lakes. Im guessing that if they claim say the gas is for the boats you can get out of having ethanol blend. This was in GA and NC tho, not around me anywhere.

Morning adam, Tom, brady, lisa, keith, john and anyone else out there

Hey Burg. I am not sure why certain states require ethanol and all. I try to stick away from it. I noticed no ticking on my engine when I changed over to it.

Then again, we don't have any marinas close by to me. And the ones that are within an hour away are nasty since it is all reservoirs and not real lakes.

what i find interesting is that as much as Iowa pushes ethanol because it's made from corn, the only blend we have with ethanol in it is 89. 87 and 91 don't have ethanol in it.

I really wish they would get away from making ethanol from corn. It is a net wash or net loss of energy to make ethanol from corn. It is much more efficient to make it from switch grass and algae. The hard part is that i can't say that loudly here in Iowa for fear of getting lynched.

Pretty sure if a national thing but some states use different loopholes to get ethanol free gas. I use lucas ethanol treatment in all my small engines as well as my bike.

I do wish they would use more of other plant life for it too. There are hundreds of different things they could use for fuel.

By using corn, they jackup the price of corn. The farmers love it, but when the corn goes to feed 1/3 of the world, they need to find another resource.

Why don't you put a fan in the window and blow the air in? Then when it finally gets hotter you can put your AC in? Saves a little energy for now.
