Do any of you get as much junk mail as I do? Credit Card offers, mortgage insurance offers, magazines, etc...

I heard this idea on a radio show once and I've done it ever since....

Every time I get an offer with a prepaid return envelope included, I take some of the crap that came in the original envelope, tear it up, stuff it in the return envelope and send it back. I always make sure the stuff I send back doesn't have my name or address on it, just in case.

I figure I'm helping pay for the USPS (since I send almost zero letters of my own anymore) and hopefully pissing somebody off at the companies that send the junk.

If everybody did this I bet we'd start seeing less junk... or they'd stop sending prepaid envelopes and make you use a stamp. Oh well...

Sometimes I'll tear up some newspaper and stuff it in the envelope. Sometimes I'll put an old shopping list... just whatever. I'm sure a machine opens the envelopes and nobody actually gets annoyed... but at least it costs them money.

I heard of a guy attaching those pre paid envelopes to random trash (up to and including old tires iirc) for a bit...Not sure if it worked out or not...or if it was even true...but I'd love to find out...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I like to put other offers in different envelopes, mix it up a bit and it keeps them on their toes.

It's funny because all of my credit card companies asked (BEGGED) me to sign up for paperless statements to "help the environment". Yet I still receive the same amount of mail from them...it just doesn't have my 2 page statement in it.

Has anyone ever called a company and asked to be removed from the junk mailing list? We can do it with phone calls and emails so why not with snail mail?

Your right, and its true. We just live in a politically correct charged times and you caught me off guard speaking your mind and someone not screaming to ban you, beat you, or come track you down.

Facts are facts unless its a political statement on here.

I don't care if this stops it or not, the concept is so fucking cool! Rep 4 OP! Sure would be nice to wipe ass & put that in the return envelope with a note that says...Stop sending me your shit & I'll stop sending you mine! But I know that'd come back on you somehow with all the federal postage laws so I might not. I will send them back their own shit. Gotta love all the useful nuggets of coolness that can be gleaned from this here site!!!!!
