I registered to be an organ donor last week but I'm not sure if my license has to be replaced with one that shows I am an organ donor or if It shows up when they scan it or something? If anyone knows, share the facts. Thanks

Mine says it under my picture. It may depend on the state you live in.

Another thing to do is let your family know your wishes. Your license may not make it to the hospital with you.... But your family would be there and would be able to make that wish known to proper personnel.

Yeah I am, I think everyone should become an organ donor. I hear the excuse "I don't want my body to be cut up." I mean really come on now.. First of all your going to be dead and second your body is going to rot away underground somewhere and those rotting organs could save many lives...

But yeah it should say on your license, but even if it's not on there I'm sure it's in the system somewhere.

x2. I would be done using it and hopefully someone else could benefit from it. If not, let science have it for research or learning.

X2. Just because it says it on your license doesn't mean they can take your organs without next of kins permission. It just gives them a way to identify your wishes. You family has to agree with it. Let your family know your wishes and make them understand that it's what you want.

Mine doesn't say if I'm a donor or not. I know before I renewed my license there used to be a sticker that said donor on my license. I don't know if that's changed in CA, but apparently I'm not a donor anymore :(

Yep, I am an organ donor. I am also an organ recipient. Had Cornea transplant in December 08. Even the smallest organs are still useful to someone. :) I thank the person and their family everyday for giving me my vision back.

I tried, but they refused me as I've been living in the UK in the past 10 years. Mad cow disease and all that. Same reason that I'm not allowed to donate blood.

I am "not allowed" to donate blood because I was in Europe in the late 70's. I was only there a year ( I think) and a year old to boot.

Not yet, still usin them but it's on my license & my family knows my position on recycling. I don't want a box in the ground. Take what can benefit others & throw the rest in the middle of the ocean, feed the fish & call it good. Then I can be in many places at once........:D
