al gore's idea of global warming is a fucking joke. yet another nobel was wasted on his ass too. earth is heating up, it has cycles. theres an ice age, it heats up ice melts temps get warmer, then it stays warm, cools down, go back into ice age. we are just coming out of a mini ice age a few centuries ago. earth is heating up now. plus the sun has an 11 year cycle. it heats up for 11 years, then cools down for 11 years and repeats. right now the sun is heating up. therefore a result in temp increase a little and icebergs melting.

WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GLOBAL WARMING...and btw al gore can come to wv and tell us the earth is heating up right now. the whole month of october has seen double digit lows from average so far. he is so full of shit

who gives a shiz if global schmobal is real or not? fighting it is the new cold war and will help out America. also, if you dont see the pollution in general we leave, you are just ignorant. any truly patriotic person would defend the United States and her beautiful land and clean air and water, and take down any person or corporation who rapes her. take responsiblity instead of being naive.

i like my vvti and emission controls / 5sp auto making my engine one of the most efficient / cleanest for its output and cant wait for a hybrid diesel tacoma. We should develop new technologies, and do it here in America. keep the money in America you pansies, quit selling out to the middle east. so who cares if someone believes in global warming or not. quit being political and following your party, you are just sheep that way. politicians really dont give a crap either way. lead the way to the future in your taco. f-yeah.

Global Warming? Sure! With regards to the last time we had an iceage!

Think about how they gather the data. If over the past 50 years, the major cities have been getting warmer, then no shit! Think of the heat shield a city creates. More pavement = more surface heating, plus more heat being released from all sorts of things, cars, power plants, whatever. Measurements need to be taken in an area that has remained the same for the past several decades (Rural areas). A

Also, think about the distrubution of land/water in the world. The northern hemisphere has much more landmass then the southern hemisphere. Thats why the amount polar Ice caps in Antartica are actually increasing! So yes, the northern hemisphere has experienced a warming trend over the past few decades, just as the southern hemisphere has experienced a cooling trend. So.. maybe we should call it "Hemispheric Warming"

But wait! Lets remember that carbon gasses arent the only thing which can contribute to warming. What about the bigger things, like the fact there are differences in the amount of energy the sun will emit which is based on an 11 year cycle (which there could easily be a series of cycles which occur naturally in the sun, but given the amount of time weve been observing it....) And do you really think the earth follows the EXACT same path around the sun. If you do, your an idiot. The earth expiernces differences not only in the path it revolves around the sun but the intensity in seasons (which is actually influenced by the path we take each year around the sun.

But dont worry guys, You can still drive your Tacomas all you want! All you gotta do is pay for the amount of carbon gasses you use to erase your carbon footprint. Al Gore will see that the money gets put to good use. Im sure hes coming up with a way to increase/decrease the solar output of the sun as needed.

Just thought Id key ya in on something. Youre correct about the sun having an 11 year cycle (11.2 to be exact) but it doesnt heat/cool neccesarly during that time frame. Theres a 4 year rapid rise to a solar Maximum which is where the surface of the sun is at its peak, and an 7 year gradual decline to a solar Minimum. Were currently at a solar minimum. That means, Few solar flares and what not. Appreciate it now, because when we rise to a maximum again, you can expect a degradiation with regards to accuracy of radio communications. (Cell phones, GPS, er.. radio stations... lol)

The sun reverses its magnetic poles every 11 years too. Something that happens here on earth too, just not nearly as often. Theres evidence in this in the seafloor, and yes, were are overdue for a magnetic reversal in our poles.

    Just throwin that out there.

And this year were experiencing an EL Nino Pattern. I urge you all to look it up, but basically, has to do with a semi permenant pressure system in the pacific moving away from the equator causing less upwelling near the eastern coast of the pacific along the equitorial current. This allows Sea Surface temps to rise a little which has all sorts of impacts on weather. Thats one reason why we had such a low number of tropical storms in the Atlantic. Something about increased verticle windshear which pretty much knocks a tropical storm/hurricane over as it tries to build. Tropical Storms are Barotropic which means they stack straight up from the water to the tropopause (ceiling in the atmosphere for weather) They dont like being knocked over.

I rant alot and dont connect my facts very well.. Also, I dont really know how EL Nino increases verticle wind shear in the atlantic. But that is why weve recieved less hurricanes this year.

Wonder why they keep calling it Climate Change instead of Global warming :)

Quotes like this make me want to kill people. Science doesn't rule things out god dammit.

That said, global warming has always been alarmist bullshit and continues to be. The idea that we can predict climate patterns a decade from now when we can't get the 72 hour forecast right consistently is laughable. The inability of some people to understand this staggers me.

Even more absurd is the idea that we would be able to control the situation if we did come up with an accurate model for prediction. This isn't like air conditioning a fucking house.

Which increment between 3 days and ten years would you like me to use as an example of inaccuracy?

Of course it is.. A few thousand years ago the tip of Texas saw snowfall yearly. The same time where i am now was under 300' of ice.. since the ice age the planet has warmed up....

No one is saying that we shouldn't care for the planet. I'm all for that. But global warming is a scam religion with sheep for followers. It's not patriotic to just follow the herd based on made up science.
I do believe in climate change, however. I also believe it would happen if humans were here or not.

    Global Warming
Global warming is a prime example of the alarmism that characterizes much of the environmental movement. Media coverage of the topic is heavily slanted toward alarmism because “bad news sells,” making it difficult for climate realists to get a fair hearing. Al Gore’s recent movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” has been severely critiqued by many experts, yet it is being shown in high schools across the country as an educational documentary.
Climate science reveals that the world has warmed about 1 degree C during the past century, with half of that warming occurring before human emissions could have been responsible. Even if human activity is responsible for 100 percent of the warming since 1940, it is only about 0.5 degrees C., an amount so small it is within the error range of the instruments used to measure global temperatures.
There is no consensus about the causes, effects, or future rate of global warming. Most climate scientists doubt the reliability of computer models and the accuracy of land-based temperature records Reports by the IPCC are unreliable due to political editing and rewriting of the reports’ conclusions. Some of the key evidence cited in past IPCC reports has been shown to be fraudulent.
There is also disagreement over what to do about global warming. Economists believe the Kyoto Protocol, the treaty intended to reduce human greenhouse gas emissions, would cost its participants trillions of dollars while having little or not effect on the global climate. Meanwhile, the federal and state governments debate and pass legislation that will be similarly futile.
Many experts call for adaptation--making small changes to infrastructure and lifestyles to accommodate a slightly warmer world--rather than spend hundreds of billions of dollars trying to reduce emissions. Carbon sequestration could also play a role in responding to climate change.
All of the supposed catastrophic effects of global warming have been rebutted by scientists, including melting ice, hurricanes, other extreme weather, and extinction of wildlife.
An increasing number of experts believe the recent warming is due to natural cycles driven by variability in solar radiation.
Reliable experts on climate change include Patrick Michaels, S. Fred Singer, and Sallie Baliunas. Non-scientists who have rebutted climate alarmism include the late novelist Michael Crichton and Sen. James Inhofe.
For more information about global warming, go to Global Warming Facts, a Web site created by The Heartland Institute that focuses just on this issue

As previously said, caring about the negative effects on the earth is a very good thing as long as we are not shooting people in the head for burning camel dung to stay warm.

Kate tells me that we're having methane gassing in Huntington Beach. It should dissipate by the time it gets to you.

But you're in Tuscon! I can do that here too! Now if one of our brothers can do that in VA, WI, IL or NY - That would be forecasting!!!

Links much? Alarmism? How much of our stimulus was really stimulating?

Man, I thought Chris was the smartest until I some of you guys!
