Transporting Your Snowboard, How do you do it?

Im taking off to mountain high tonight but my cab is full, how do I safely transport my new snowboard without f ing it up, I dont have a roof rack.

 

i keep mine in a board bag and throw it in the bed

 

I thought this is why people bought trucks. lol Just throw it in the bed.

 

Yeah....I always used a board bag- Clean storage in my dorm room and protection in the truck bed.

If you don't have a bag already....Wrap your stick in a towel and then staple or duct tape it so it stays closed. Put your gear bags around it and you should be all good.

 

or back in NY my bed was full of snow all winter long so i just used that for cushion lol

 

Do not, DO NOT just throw your board in the back of your truck without something to weigh it down, like gear bags on it or something. It will fly out, it happens all the time up here. But if you dont have a gear bag, yes, wrap it with towels or a blanket.

 

ive just thrown mine in the bed the past 10yrs... never had one blow away on me...

Ive been driving around with a peice of cardboard in my bed for a couple weeks and it hasnt gone anywhere...

 

I guess some arent so lucky, we have seen a couple boards fly out going down the freeway and we have had one start to lift out on us. That was enough for me

 

maybe you have you have to have gear under the board to lift it up from the bottom of the bed. that way the wind is a lot strong and the the board has less distance to fly to get out of the bed?

I throw mine on my roof rack. I could easily throw it in the bed but it just looks cooler with the Thule angled snowboard holders!!

 

I have always just thrown mine in the back. Never had a problem yet. Getting a board bag this year though. They a fairly cheap and very useful.

 

Well looks like Ill be getting a board bag. I just got back from MT high and it was just the wifey and me so it actually fit in the back seat of my DC. In the furture though, Ill have more passengers so the board bag will come in handy when I throw it in the bed. Im assuming the bags have cushion on the ends?

 

I usually put my board and boots in a board bag. The board bag is water proof so it's safe in case it rains. Then on the way back home, I throw my boots, swampy clothes, helmet and goggles in the bag... and throw the board in bed. Snowboarding is the reason why I bought a Tacoma, so at the end of the day I can just throw all the crap in the bed and not worry about cleaning up. As for securing it, I use a spiderweb-type bungee I got in Wal-Mart for $15. This pic below was from last April's Mammoth trip with a full bed. We didn't lose anything.
