Well depending on how long you've been collecting you might want to look over your coin you may have some in there that are worth more than you think

HAHAHA, I just went through this dude. I had a 5 gallon bottle of nothing but quarters. Dont take it to a coinstar cause they charge you like 9% to count it. When dealing with 5 gallons of quarters thats a chunk of change. It took me like 4-6 weeks to count and roll all mine but in the end I had over $6,000 in nothing but quarters. I about had a stroke.

One of the credit unions that I bank with has a coin machine that will count your change for free, give you a certificate, and then allow you to cash in your change free of charge. This could be something to look for with whomever you bank with.

Sucks the bank won't count them for ya anymore. They did give me free wrappers though. My jug was so heavy with the quarters. I'll bet it weighed 150lbs, at least. Took me about 10 years to fill it though.

If this was ask.com, I would have voted that the #1 answer.

Some relatives of mine had a BUNCH of coins around b/c they used to own a laudrymat. They didn't want to roll them all themselves, and even the best coin sorting/rolling machine wasn't good enough for these quantities, so Coinstar was the way to go.

They don't take a cut if you get a gift certificate to certain vendors, so they decided to buy things (most of which they needed anyway) from the sponsors and went to town. There were SEVERAL thousand dollars in the bags/jars/cannisters. It was awesome. They bought a TV, a new laptop, something else I can't remember.... Fun times.

I have one of those gallon jugs that counts the change for you, it gives u an lcd readout. I have about 1.5 inches of change at the bottom and it's at $95. So a full gallon I would guesstimate is approaching $1000.

OP, this is actually a pretty intresting question. I have maybe an inch or two in coins in a Folgers plastic jug. I think I'm going to save my coins till I have enough for an AR..Thanks for the idea :D

The key is to use separate containers for silver and pennies. Pennies just dominate the collection if it's your standard mix bc there's a higher probability of getting pennies in change. I'm guessing a gallon of silver would be near $1000. Also some banks will take unrolled change for a fee, generally much smaller fee than coin star.
