So i just got back from my first session of my new tattoo..this is my second and its a biggy! It is a giant squid attacking a pirate ship (named after my grandfathers old sail boat that sunk 12 years ago: the Two Swallows) and the squid is being attacked by a shark.

In this first session we got most of the outline done (just 2 tentacles that will wrap partially around my upper arm, the british flag, and some skeletons are left) and quite a lot of black shading done. We still have a lot of work to do though, Joey (the artist) reckons we have about 6-8 more hours of work since it is going to be in FULL colour and there are still the 2 tentacles around my arm, the british flag, and some skeletons being crushed and jumping off the ship. I am soooo stoked...he showed me the sketch he did with parts coloured in like he wants to do and it is going to look AMAZING

Well enough talking here are the pics :D

After a short break with the outlining done, as you can see it takes up a LOT of my back so that it can be super detailed

And this is the sketch he showed me with some of the colouring done

Thanks for the praise...ive had this idea for a long time and i finally went to this guy (one of my good friends from high school's fiance) and told him what i wanted and he drew it up a little different than what i said but i like how he did it SOOO much better this guys is awesome too, he is very light and extremely smooth...i was there for about 4 hours and he did all of above in that time...took him about 2hrs 30 mins for the outlining and 1hr 30 mins for the shading...his work is amazing...and the funny thing is...he told me once he had drawn it up that he wasnt very good at drawing boats!! i mean look at it its an awesome boat...i told him if thats wat something he isnt very good at looks like then i wanna see what his drawings of things he is good at look like!! haha

For me it'd have to be the Texas Flag, but that wouldn't make much sense being on a ship and all. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Well here it is...its not a great pic so it doesnt properly show all of the diff. colours in the shading and stuff...but i will get my gf to take some better pics with her camera soon...this was my second session and he did all of the colour that you see...it took about 7 hours (plus an extra hour for food/green tea/smoke breaks) and i got it done just over a week ago. I go in for my third session either sunday or next week depending on how busy he is.
