If you guys go out there, be careful... First time I heard about them was when I got back from Iraq in 05. I saw news clips of them protesting fallen soldiers and I swore if I saw them, I would do jail time to fuck them up. However, come to find out, its what they want you to do. They masquerade as a church and protest gays and military personnel but they are just scammers. They say really offensive stuff to people in order to get a reaction, and if someone does lose their cool, they sue the shit out of them. Its how they make their money. That family is mostly lawyers or in law school. If they do these "protests" and bait atleast 1 person from each city they visit to do something to them, its a payday. It's pretty ingenious really because they hit subjects people are really passionate about and will likely get a physical response from. That said... again be careful out there and dont fall into their trap. Maybe I'll drive by and see whats up since i'm literally right down the street...

A bunch of cowards with an agenda.....To hurt those who don't buy into the exact Dogma they have. I try not to waste any energy on them but it's tough when you see the pain they cause people. I too love the fact that the Freedom Riders were formed and make an effort to make an appearance at thier hate-fests.

Love the Voltaire quote too DuderAbides, one of my favorites from him.

I wish you and your friends the best of luck man. The only thing I'd tell you is make damn sure you don't break any laws, because they will not be shy about sueing you for impeding their right to free speech. But please drown them out!

I know what you mean, They hate this country but they use this country's court system to sue you, use this country's first amendment to protest hatred for it, and so on and so on.

God hates **** is not actually a religious group even though they claim to be. the local radio dj's here (the rise guys) did a phone interview with phelps. it was very clear what he is after. he wants money and thats it. he is a lawyer, and so are all of his children. the church is primarily made up of his family and their families. his number one goal is to sue people. they have filed thousands of law suits over the years, which is where they get their money. since they are all lawyers they dont have lawyer bills so they do it constantly. if you say anything negative about them they will sue you for defamation. hell, in one instance he got a TV from walmart. it didn't work when he opened the box so instead of taking it back, he filed a suit against them for a huge sum of money. i cant remember what he claimed is damage was but i believe they ended up settling out of court for a few thousand or something like that. their idea is if you file enough suits, you are bound to win a few, and some people will just settle since its cheaper than court costs.

here's the bottom line. one of the reasons they protest, is to piss people off. as soon as someone takes a swing at them, or throws an egg or whatever, they press charges and take that individual to court to get as much as they can from him. so if you wanna go protest them thats cool, but whatever you do DO NOT GET PHYSICAL WITH THEM IN ANY WAY!!! they count on that so they can take you to court. hitting htem is like giving them a paycheck.

Oh, and the beauty of the whole thing, since they are a "church" they are tax exempt. these people are the lowest human beings in the world

holy shit those commercials were hysterical! "come in straight, go home with a case of the gays!"

that was great. did they church try to sue the radio show for anything?

as i said, their platform is money and manipulation. religion is easy to use to manipulate people, and its a tax free entitiy. they intentionally do things to piss people off so they can turn around and sue them

damn, should have read your post before i took the time to type the same thing :D

but you're right, you dont just go to jail for assault if you hit them. you show up to court with your single lawyer and sit next to a table full of them on their side. if you hit them you can lose your house and car and everything else. these people are pure evil

No, they didn't sue. Never heard anything from them after that. One of the funny parts was when they asked that lady about her son.
