I'm good Joe. Nice to see you pop in here. Being busy with work is better than umemployed. How have you been? How're your Mom and the kids doing?

Wife loves the Highlander. The extra seating capacity is nice when we go somewhere with the kids; beats driving two vehicles.

Take care of them sick people Melissa. ;) Catch ya' later.

Good deal. I've got a sister and a few cousins that were born, raised and still live in Waghausel (I think it's about an hour or so from you).

Have you had a chance to travel much?

    Mother Fuckin Engines :D

Avionics are a bunch of good dudes, little weird some times but good. Don't know what command and control is though. Might be labeled as something else now a days.

I've traveled quite a bit actually. More so before the little one came around but we are still going to try to travel with her.

1C3x1 Command Post, but I only did one 3 yr tour in an actual Command Post; the rest was Rescue Coordination, a 1 yr remote tour at a MUNSS (like Buchel ... but I was in Turkey), and 12 yrs total in Air Mobility Squadrons (why I'm Air Trans now).

EDIT: Plus 3 yrs working in the Tanker Airlift Control Center at Scott AFB, IL. I seem to try to forget that one for some reason.

Thanks Rob. You're correct, I've been on both sides and working (even 20+ nights in a row) is better than not! Plus I'm digging the double time! :D

Mom and the boy are doing great. Mom will be visiting for the winter. I plan to get her picking her up sometime at the end of October and bringing her to my place. She's got all sorts of plans for travel including visiting two of her sisters. One in SFO and one 1 STL. We'll drive to STL but, I guess I'll be flying and renting a car (and hotel if I have my way) in SFO. She's also wanting to do some other sight seeing... It may be a task but, at her age I won't be saying no. The boy actually ended up in a union plumbing job and while the pay isn't where I'd like for it to be for him on top out (still a few years away) it's better than where he was and there's plenty of work. He's not burned out yet but, I'm sure the 60+ hour weeks will get old once he gets used to living on the extra $.

Good deal on the Highlander. I remember seeing pictures of it but, I think I had some stuff going on and didn't really get to discuss it with you. Is it the V6? Is it AWD?

I'm an engine specialist. I was trained on F15's and then transferred over to 130's because they were undermanned and needed people.

We have similar careers. I'm playing with an A300, B767 & an MD11 tonight.

Oddly, I believe I've spoke (via the phone) with Rob in a previous life through the course of our jobs.

That is what I'm trying to work towards. Working for my A&P right now, and then get out and work the private sector.

Glad your Mom's spirits are good and she feels like traveling. I get it's a task, but you're right to not say no. The time together will mean a lot to you down the road.

Glad your son is in a better position. You can only push them so far, they still gotta figure some of it out on their own.

Our oldest, his wife, and the two grand kids are living with us again. They moved back in to save up money to make a move to Arizona. He's staying with the same company, but they aren't paying for the move. They'll be making the move 1st week in January. They've never liked the Winters here and things have been a little tight for them. I understand why he wants to make the move. Cost of living there is 72% of what it is here, and he'll only take a 7% cut in pay taking the job there, so they'll actually be ahead of the game. My wife isn't crazy about them moving away again, but I figure a few long weekend (or longer) trips from here to Arizona during the Winter won't be a terrible thing. ;)

EDIT: Hell, in another 10 yrs or so, I might be ready to buy one of those big ass RVs and snowbird between here and Arizona. Winter in the warmth and come back up here to fish and hunt in the Summer. Hmmm...not a bad thought there. :)

I obtained my A&P at the benefit of a major using F.A.R. 65.77 (b) that basically allows 30 months OJT when testing for both ratings. Aviation isn't what it used to be except at a few airlines (UPS, FedEx & Southwest) and even those employees are seeing their benefits erode but, I think it's still a good gig if you enjoy the work.

Damn, I had a book typed Rob and got logged out and lost it! Furstrating!

In a nut shell. I agree on the hanging out with mom and I'm glad I got to hang with my dad. I also understand your wife not being pleased with the pups moving away.

My friend in Ramp just called to ask if I wanted to help APEX (our crew/no loadmaster) upload a C-17. They're a little short handed...I'll catch ya'll later.

Good to catch you on here Joe.

You at EDF or ANC? If you're at EDF it's only showing 34 minutes on the ground to off load. It's currently airborne about half way between Anderson and the Aleutian Islands. (Might be saying too much already). It's an interesting charter, I just pulled the manifest and got all the details. You know any of the people on board?

I got bumped out too ... thought it was the base firewall crap again. :notsure:

Yeah, it's a Mom/Grandma thing. But I figure it'd be pretty hypocritical of me to criticize them after we moved the boys from NC to IL to England to here over the last 30 yrs. And Arizona is not a terrible place to visit when the Winter blahs get us down here.

EDF ... doubt I know any of the folks ... probably some of the faces, but not names. I'm a big plane guy. ;)

I'm looking at a bug eyed dog. I love this swipekey key board.
I used to hate typing on my tablets keyboard. This is awesome.

Don't mind me I'm just practicing this new way to type. How come I never knew about this?

    Swipe keyboard rocks!

I've been using it for ten minutes and I can text or type ten times faster.

Sorry for the thread detail. Carry on.

Tell me more about this "swipekey keyboard." Does it work with IPad? I get frustrated with the screen keyboard on mine.
