New member here, and being the clean freak that I am, I'm still trying to decide what do with my border collie while transporting her around town or on long trips. Just letting her hang out in the bed with no restraints is out of the question, but was curious what other members do to transport their loved ones. (Cage strapped to the bed, back seats folded up/down, etc.)

I love her to death but the hair and nails on a week old interior make me cringe.

If she rides inside the cabin, make sure her nails are trimmed. Put down a couple of towels or something.

For me-my dog is like family. If I need to spend a bit of time trimming her nails and vacuuming up hair so she can ride in the cab....So be it.

You can tether your dog using the bed rails and/or bed floor tie downs so that she has enuf lead to get her face into the wind but not enuf to jump out of the bed while moving and be stuck hanging off the side of the truck.

Dog box (permanent or a normal crate lashed down could also work.

I have a Border Collie too. If it's long trips, she's in the cab with me. Just lay down a towel and prepare to vacuum later. I use those sticky lint sheets to get the hair my vacuum won't. If it's a short trip around town, she's in the truck bed. She loves it! I use the leash wrapped around one of the tie down loops and she knows not to jump out.
