Welders

Well im lookin to buy my first welder!! Im pretty excited but have not figured out exactly what I want or what i need.

I think I want a Mig probaby a 220v with gas

I will be using it every now and then just to build odd ball things and hopefully when i get out of school i am going to start building a rock crawler so something that could possablily weld a roll bar or something like that with

any ideas?

 

Is your house wired for 220v?

 

Ya it is i have a lincoln arc welder right now that i run off of 220v but im looking for something a little bit easier and something i can weld lighter metals with

 

I have a 110v flux core mig by Cambell Hausfield. I've had it for around 3 years now putting at least 10-20lbs of wire through it welding frames, shock towers, and misc. crap around the house. Got it for around $300 at Lowes. Not as heavy duty as a 220v, but I can take it anywhere and use it without having to find a 220 outlet. It rides in my truck to my parents' or buddy's house quite frequently.

I just picked up a 10lb spool since it's half the price of buying the smalling 2lb spools for the same amount of wire.
