i say to my friend on FB GMC= Gov motor corp and his reply is..

I'll bet you didnt know that toyota got a 400 million dollar bailout by Japan did you? Do some research, theyre government too, and when you buy a toyota money goes to Japan. "Oh theyre assembled in America" Bullshit, when you buy one the money goes to the head corporation boss in Tokyo, not to the American people or any american company

i dont really know what to say back any help? thanks!

Tell him what about all the American people that got paid to put it together and continue maintaining it (Dealers) And the fact that a lot of the parts are made by Americans too.

Tell him how impressed you are with him that he was smart enough to see how you, all your friends here at TW, and every Toyota owner are all just a part of a secret, evil, anti-American conspiracy in an attempt to allow Japan to takeover our country... and all it took to coerce us was the desire to own a dependable, quality vehicle....

Tell the moron that Toyota isn't getting a bailout, they're borrowing money. HUGE difference. GMC just recieved a huge grant because they're sucky cars/trucks. Look around you, compare the amount of GMCs to JUST toyotas. Nevermind all the Tundras/4 Runners and other toyota/luxus vehicles. Althought I'm biased to a good truck, this guy is biased to crap :D

I had to jump in on this...

Tell him that you want to trade pinks by putting a brick on each truck's gas pedal and the first one that blows up loses. - that shuts them down fast.

some things not mentioned...2 factors: When they went into bankruptcy, a lot of their debt was wiped out, so they don't have to make payments on that. Also, they recieved loans for operating reserves based on the economy being in the dumps for longer than actually occured. Going forward, with their decreased costs (increased margins) and the banks making tons of money, they are able to get private financing now. So, basically, they are giving back money they never used, plus some additional private sector funds. I saw in an article in Jan that GM had $4B in debt, but I don't know what it is now. For reference, before bankruptcy they had $40B and Ford had $145B. Ford currently has $132B.
also, I wouldn't go so far as to call this "great" news. Positive news - yes, but not great. Don't forget, GM was given $52B of US tax payers dollars and is only paying back $7B with cash. If GM makes too much spin out of this, the media could turn on them and make it look as if GM is playing trickery.

Ask him how their Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Hummer and Saab brands are doing?

Wow...under that mentality then for every GM car bought the money would go directly to the CEO's who have run GM into the ground for the last 30 years. NO wonder they had to borrow money from the government! Those same brilliant corporate heads tried to sell you the SAME car with different badges on it (Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, etc.) I'm not anti-GM or anything, a lot of my family worked for GM for years and retired from there. I'm just pissed at GM's poor decisions, ignorant policy's and piss poor customer service that led them to this debacle. As a former GM employee we saw this coming for years. Now GM has to fight to retain their share back in a very competitive market. Good luck GM! I just hope you don't make the same stupid mistakes that ya made in the past, which leads to the reason I'm driving a Tacoma.

Olds was phased out around 2001-2002. Pontiac was recently phased out too. Hummer is discontinued (I think) and I believe GM is trying to sell off Saab. GM was spread out too thin for too long. All that remains is Chevy, GMC, Buick and their flagship...Cadillac.
