My friend just told me the other day about people steeling truck tailgates and selling them for like $200.00. I went on line and did some search but it seem to be more of Ford trucks that are being target it, I was just if anyone has seen or heard something diff??

Spend 39 cents to protect yourself. Our tailgates literally lift off. I used a hose clamp to make sure nobody could take my tailgate without a screw driver. It might not be very secure but it would triple the time needed to get my tailgate and the effort alone will deter most thiefs. And its actually quite common for tailgates to get stolen off our trucks.

Look where the tailgate meets the body.

    Shhhh!

The more that's written about how easy it is to steal a tailgate to make a quick buck the more idiots that will happen to read it and decide it's a good idea.

I had a tailgate stolen from my old S-10. It sucked, luckly I found one in a junk yard with the same color. After that I used a hose clamp and secured it with .040 lock wire and put JB Weld over the worm drive of the clamp. Did the same on my Tacoma 1st day I had it home. Along with a cable lock for the spare and a rod in the track of the rear sliding window.

You might be able to get enough for it to fill that tank with gas..... If you don't wait too long :p
