The device for cleaning out your ears that has been used for hundreds of years in Japan is the MIMIKAKI....or the Japanese Bamboo Ear Cleaner.

hmm.. good question. i will have to ask one of the docs if i see them tomorrow. im guessing if you can see it and dont have to go in far at all a small q tip would be ok.

lol basically what happened to me. i also went to this new indoor water park for my b-day at that time which made everything worse because their chlorine levels and air quality was shit in there... if any of you come to Cinci, do NOT stay at the Great Wolf Lodge water park. I ended up having this massive infection that closed my ear up. had to get it suctioned out twice and then had to put an ointment in it each night, to top it off i had to mix 2 oz of vinegar with 2 oz of rubbing alcohol and squirt it in my ear 3 times a day for a week, then 2 times a day for a week, then 1 time every other day for a week. it burned so bad!

lol we have had patients come in with beetles in their ear. one dude actually brought like 5 of them in with him and they were crawling all over the walls in the exam room. yeh, that room was closed for a while. we have also had little kids come in with ear ring studs stuck inside their ear, had a kid that was playing in a farm silo with the corn and had a piece of corn stuck in his ear for a week until he finally told his mom... we ended up doing surgery because the corn swelled inside his ear.

    :p:thumbsup:

I use q tips all the time. Oh and i have to put ear plugs in almost every single day and i have never had a problem with compacting wax or anything like that.

I think the ear plugs help because every time i pull them out they have wax all over them.

I've had that procedure done about a 1/2 dozen times in my life. Sucks, I got waxy ears, apparently. The wax in the OP video is pretty soft which means the removal was just slightly uncomfortable. I've felt a lot of pain in my life but having the Doc attempt to suction out a solid cap of dry wax that was glued to my eardrum definitely rates on the list of things I'd rather not feel again. OOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

I have used them a few times. They work well, you won't believe the wax that will come out of your ears! You can buy them at Vitamin World.
