Walmart wages are in line with other similar box stores.
Their compensation packages for management and executive is very good.
I would find it hard to believe they are making min wage.

Seems to me every business has a pay scale structure.
Does target best buy or kohl pay that much more?

my nephew makes $12 a hour, not bad for his first job
on the flip side he has to be there a year for medical ins.

 

The main issues I have with Wal-Mart are:

1.) A proven track record of racial and gender discrimination when hiring and promoting. Hence, the big fat settlement a couple years back.

2.) The way they put local businesses out.

There was a great article in Fast Company in like, 2004 or something where they examined the way Wal-Mart does business. A bike company got a contract to produce bikes to sell at Wal-Mart. This company had a record of producing quality products, and began manufacturing a line of low-budget bicycles to sell at wal-Mart. Because Wal-Mart demands that their suppliers decrease price from year to year, they ended up having to drop their lineup of quality products and convert their factories to produce only the shit bikes. But, they couldn't drop Wal-Mart, because it accounted for 90% of their business.

The company ended up folding because they couldn't operate on such thin profit margins and their market outside of Wal-Mart evaporated. They made some really good bikes, too.
