I dont think it really matters if you "need" it or not. Well, In your case, yes, you cant do what you do in a Civic, but, to the people that bought a Tacoma because you wanted it, GOOD FOR YOU! A friend of mine bought a Porsche GT2. He doesnt NEED it, but its his money. Its nice to live in a place that you can buy, own, and drive WHAT YOU WANT. This guy that thinks hes "saveing the planet" is a retard. If 1 normal sized Volcano eruption can spew out more co2 than we have produced in 100 years. If the ocean emits more methane into the atmosphere than we can even measure. How can someone think we have SUCH an influence on this planet? IN the grand scheme of things, WE ARE SMALL. If I decide to have a BBQ and do burnouts in my truck, it does not affect anything on a planetary scale. Hell, If we ALL decided to do burnouts next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. mountain time D), It will affect nothing more than tire sales.

Thank you, we've wanted a new double cab Tacoma for quite some time, and when we saw the redesign in 2005 and the Speedway Blue, we always talked about getting one. Now that it's here, we just love to stare at it wherever it's parked. It's made driving fun again (and even toting a baby around fun!) and it's nice to be proud of what you drive!

And Chris, Mike, Kat, Cams, and the rest of you are cracking me up

I felt the same way when I bought mine. It's my first new vehicle, and I bought it with money I saved from going to Iraq. And if some angry mob comes near it, they are going to be on the recieving end of a hot 168 gr .308 round precisely placed in their chest. Ok enough of the flashbacks... haha

I was on another board (videogames and stuff) and a thread about the high gas prices came up, so I proudly posted a pic of my new Tacoma. Man, the backlash was ludicrous (at least to me). People were saying everything from it being impractical to saying that mobs will come after me to vandalize my truck.

Has anyone else experienced this type of backlash (on message boards or in real life)?

WTF do video gamers know about trucks?...Yea,yea they build them in their fantasy worlds but thats about it. Video gamers live a life of fantasy and a bubble at the same time!...Where do you think all their money goes when buying GTA or Halo?..Probably not the usa!....I had a friend who lost his wife to video games. Loved them more than her. How pathetic!

I would join and mock those idiots but it would be a waste of my time, all of you should just stop trolling over there. Any idiot who thinks a Taco is a big truck and gets 10mpg is barely worth debating with.

They are also saying a double cab can't off road because its to big. I wonder if these tool bags even know the double cab is the same size as the access cab. And I have seen several double cabs on Moab over on TTORA. Hell I've seen a few do Hells Gate.
