I just learned...

How to drive a stick with my friends Scion Tc. I feel like I know everything now. It went perfect and I didn't stall it once.

 

It's Fun isn't it? After you learned how to drive "3 on a tree" you're set.

 

Good for you. I think all vehicles should be manual. People would know a lot more about cars and mechanical stuff in general, they would be better drivers, and they wouldn't be able to flipping text message while driving! They'd have to pay attention to, god forbid, driving!

 

your 18, I'm still young too at 25... lots of learning left to be had.

 

haha they really should. doing anything with a stick shift seems impossible. I had trouble remembering the turn signals haha

 

Go out and learn how to drive a 18 speed with twin air spitters.

Yea i learned when i was 17. It was a bitch to learn but its not bad when you get used to it. I used to work in a quarry and had to preload tri axles every night by myself and we used one as a pit truck. We would put 100k plus on that thing all day.

 

Good first step. First time I ever drove a stick I didn't stall at all. Second time-I couldn't get outta the driveway.

I'm still learning stuff...As far as everyone driving stick-I think not. There are people out there who can't drive Autos and pay attention to signals, impacts, and/or what is going on around them....Forget about them needing to shift for themselves....

 

I missed stick shift. Since I had bad left knee from ski accident back in 80's. I learned how to shift when I was 16 back in 1990, I had no problem. My knee get worse around 1992 to 1993. Doctor order me not to shift anymore. I tried again late in 2006 on my ex girlfriend's SUV, kept driving it about 7 months - big mistakes. I had my knee surgery on July 2007. Doctor asked me if I remember what he told me back in 90's. I told him I know, I just fuck up.

 

Well after the surgery can you drive a stick again? ha

 

That's kinda my point. Make it a requirement for the driving test. It would keep a lot of idiots off the road. And think of all the extra parking spaces! Woohoo! What rush hour?

 

Just wait til some asshole stops 6 inches from your bumber at a stoplight on a hill! Always agood time to be had driving a manual trans!! I love it!

 

I think it should be required, for safety. I am trying to teach my wife, but she gets frustrated WAY too easy. My thinking is this, what will we do if we are in the mountains kickin around and I decide to climb on something I shouldn't (as I usually do), fall, break something, and she is the only way to help? She's gotta drive. And for the kids. What happens when the DD gets drunk and the only way home is there stick? The situations for needing to drive a manual are endless, and everyone should be able to. So to you Pain, good on ya.

 

Well my reason for learning was my parents bought me this "nascar experience" for my birthday where I get to go to Phoenix International Raceway and drive a Nascar Stock Car and they are all manual of course so I had to learn!

 

i learned to drive stick when my parents bought me a manual truck instead of auto. we were gonna get auto but the manual taco was at the right price. i stalled a shit load. like 10 times. then i got it. now like 4 months later i never stall and im able to go on any hill where i live. very hill area

 

my 1969 chevrolet stepside c-10 has that tranny!

 

That's what I learned to drive on... in... something like that! had to drive it for work.
I miss my 3 on the tree in my 66

 

they were pretty rad. Pretty much dont see them anywhere anymore.. You gotta find something from the mid 60 and back.. too bad

 

they make automatic trucks? bahahahaha
