Is the Confederate flag a symbol of racism?

Just want to know how you feel? It seams as though most people relate the Confederate flag to racism. I know that in recent years, the KKK and other organizations have adopted the flag as their symbol. But they also fly the American flag, something most criticts fail to recognize. Most people have not read a REAL history book to understand the civil war, so I can see how a lot of people see it as a symbol of the slave owning south. This however is very untrue. I fly the flag in opposition to our government, not as a racist symbol. I know many fly it as pride from where they come from. So how do you feel?

It's not my favorite flag, but I think we all have to agree that some people do use it as a symbol of racism and it's those few people that ruin it for everyone else.

 

That's true. Uneducated racist a**holes used it as a symbol of hate. Now that's all the world can see.

But there are a few (I'm related to most of em) that see it now as Southern pride.
Alot of people from the South take that very seriously. Are they racist assholes?? Probably not 99% of them.

It's a part of history like anything else.

But yeah......some neo nazi ass clowns and whoever else brandish it as a white power thing.

Just like everything else in the world.....a few ruin it for all.

I just see the confederate flag as a symbol of REDNECK SPIRIT! You know, just like the gays fly the rainbow and wusses fly the white flag of surrender.

I don't fly and would not fly it. I am not a southern boy. There is no problem with it though. Remember leading up to the civil war the Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in southern states. Not slaves in northern states. The Confederates were fighting for much more than the slave issue. It is racist if you want it to be.

Only my opinion you have the right do agree or disagree.

 

People who look for racism can find it anywhere. All they need is an excuse.
