So the latest new: everything has failed, BP is running out of options, the fight to move on continues
I pray for all those who depend on the Gulf for a livliehood, a body of water that supplies nearly 80% of the countries seafood.

Yea its bad we live on the bay down by dauphin Island and we have already seen globs of oil, and the smell is really strong. They have closed all beaches down on dauphin Island and now its all military personal. The place looks like a war-zone

I can't even tell you how stupid this is. Let's get all the equipment together and the know how to get that shit down there but if something catastrophic happens we'll just let it ruin the world because we haven't thought far enough ahead to know how to handle or cap off this thing when and if something happens!. Can you say IDIOTIC? Poor people that are being affected directly!! What a bunch of morons these *engineers* are! The stupidity of people just doesn't even surprise me anymore., it just gets worse and worse. I say get those dousche bags together and put them in a pool of oil for the next 3 months and see how much they like it. We'll feed them the dying animals that have been affected.

    Your gonna jinx us!!!!

Im not defending BP, but working remotely at 5000 feet is harder than working in space. Take into account pressure, temperature, time lag, surface weather, maintenance of ROV's (more maintenance intensive than aircraft 4-6hrs/1 operational hour), currents, supplies onboard support vessels, personnel fatigue....its a damn tough situation to work with. And this is trial and error at its best, shuttle and ISS missions are planned to the minute, MONTHS and YEARS ahead of time. Like I said, Im not defending BP, but these guys definately arent sitting on their asses laughing and getting away with this.

I'm not going on the defense for anyone here, but I think some of you guys fail to realize just how difficult it is working 5000+ feet under water. To put some things into comparison here, it is much more difficult to operate at these depths than it is to send a man to the moon. These are some of the most uncharted territories in our universe. BP obviously dropped the ball, but solving this problem is not near as simplistic as some make it out to be.

Not that it's perfect but...they have a cap in place over the riser pipe right now.

And yeah- We can send folks to space...and when shit goes wrong up there-People die too. Or people use socks and duct tape to make an air scrubber and barely get back to earth alive. Emergencies and Mishaps in extreme locales are hard to deal with. It's easy to sit here and say how evil and horrible they all are...but that doesn't really help anything.

I'll say again- without getting into privileged information- Everything possible is being done. There is a significant amount of legal and operational considerations to be made.

    1. more men have been to the moon than have been in the deep ocean WHERE THE SPILL IS

    2. THE best minds are working on this, just because the spill continues doesn't mean they aren't working there asses off

    3. They wouldn't be drilling in the deep water in the gulf if our thirst for oil wasn't so great. Unless you are biking to work, using solar panels and not using any oil products, quit bitching

    4. Im buying BP stock and putting my money where my mouth is. I'm donating to a gulf fishery charity. For those who are bitching about the spill are you donating to any wildlife/fisheries charities? Are you donating time to clean the beach? BP is cleaning up their mess, you are just bitching. Put up or shut up

5.Not to mention "keeping our boot on the throat" of our biggest allies' biggest company seems kinda stupid. Are we trying to piss one of our last actually worth a shit allies? If the UK pulls outta the global war on terror i imagine a lot of other countries will too. It may not seem like a big deal but they are our longest/best ally. Lets treat them as such, no much hate speeches.

6.Food for thought-BP is the biggest holding in most British mutual funds/pensions- think about it. Politicians are gonna be unfairly tough on BP to win votes. Now obviously BP needs to pay but damaging there reputation/image just to win more votes will not induce BP to be more transparent.

http://www.healthygulf.org/ is who i donated to

If this thread is going to exist in the Prayers and Support sub-forum, lets keep it to prayers and support for those whose livelihoods and homes are affected. If not, then a mod should move it. Thanks.
