I'm not anti-death penalty but I would have no problem if it were taken away. There's a big difference. The infant has done nothing to deserve death.

Pro-choice. I have nothing wrong with people that are religious or don't want to have an abortion, but the choice should be made by the woman.

Self-awareness can't be the gauge as it doesn't occur in a child until about 1-3 years of age. Otherwise, it's okay to kill the child until 1 year after the birth.

You're taking my comments out of context. I was proving that hypocrisy exists on both sides of the aisle when I pointed out that people who scream about government intrusion in abortion are the same ones who want to hand the health care industry over to the government.

Thanks for your input, I've worked with rape victims and their families before and I know it's hard to talk about it. Many families never get over it, the fact that you are sharing this with us means you guys are probable doing pretty good.

I think one thing to keep in mind from this point forward, as topics get heated, is that this issue has been debated since the inception of the concept of abortion -- an that we are not going to come to a complete resolution on this forum.

Everyone here is probably going to have a different opinion. We'll all be better served to respect those opinions -- no matter if they conflict with yours or not.

If your're not pro life, then you're pro death. Does the aborted (killed) baby have a choice? Here is an innocent life, who has committed no wrong, yet we kill out of convenience.

Kill the baby in the womb, and it's abortion. Kill a baby one minute after birth, and it's murder. Funny how we change the language to suit our needs.

If an adult is murdered, can one consider that retroactive abortion? If you think that is rediculous, then why is it acceptable to kill an innocent baby?

To all the pro abortionists, aren't you glad your mother didn't abort you?

There are so many couples out there who would love to have a baby, but couldn't, and would love to adopt. Yet so many get pregnant and get an abortion because they don't want the baby.

I'm just saying, calling it life is one thing, but saying it's a living breathing being is far fetched. A fetus has more in common with a parasite or virus than a born person does.

Thanks for your imput, I'm sorry your so pesimistic about the thread. I would, however, like to clarify. I am pro choice meaning I think the option should exist for people who want to go that route, whatever their reason maybe. I would do everything in my power to prevent my partner from getting an abortion, but in the end it should be her choice after all it is her body. You are right when you say it's not up to me, but it's also not up to the government, the state, or any other form of law. That's just how i feel about it. Great question though.

Not sure where I fall in that choice. I don't think I could ever have one (abortion) BUT all you pro-lifers out there, why haven't YOU adopted one of those crack babies or alchohol addicted babies?

Everyone wants the cute, healthy ones, but the others are left to a life of foster home after foster home NEVER being loved or made to feel like a member of a family. Thus turning into a street thug/juvenile deliquent/etc.

I would much rather that baby/child/person had been aborted where it might feel a second of pain, rather than subjected to a life time of medical issues/abuse because of the drugs/alchohol, never having known a loving home.

A friend of mine was a foster mom and she did love all "HER" kids. She even adopted 6. The last set was twins with fetal alchohol syndrome. They had MANY issues that she was helping them work on, but it was not an easy road for any of them... Unfortunately, most of those kids aren't as lucky.

Once there are NO babies needing a home, then I would be pro-life. Until then, it should be the mothers decision.

I don't see how I proved your point.

Anyway, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think there are very strong sentiments on either side that no one is going to change their mind in this thread. Still, it's nice to know we can discuss this in a civilized way.

Aren't you glad you weren't aborted?

Dude, I work health care. We're totally socialists. Everyone is equal and we treat no one different based on age, race, creed or monetary status. Having a two tiered healthcare system denounces everything that it stands for.

I know what you're saying. I just disagree. To me, even though the child is small and simple, he/she is still human life.

For billions of years I didn't exist. I'm here on this planet for what, maybe 80 years? Then I'll cease to exist again.

Maybe I wanted to be aborted. I could have come to earth as a mongoose.
