You "might" survive a 20' fall. Made plenty of people dead from falling from around that height. Depends on what and how you land though. I agree your chances are better but if you can work off a 20' wall you can work off a 200' wall. Once your on the line it doesn't really matter the height.

I hate heights. But I do love the sight of a 90lb dog apprehending a bad guy. Would not change with anyone here for anything. But I gotta say If I would have known the FD gets free t-shirts...things may have been different. And dude those dam fire trucks are like bug lights for hot chicks..

Me & the guys I work with work from ground level to about 65 feet on a regular basis. A few years ago we had a guy fall from 15'6", he nearly didn't survive and will never be able to work again (paralyzed). He fell onto concrete, our bodies are not as tough as we think.

Isn't that the truth? I'm in decent shape for 44yrs (6' 185lbs) and I notice it takes me much longer to recuperate from a structure fire than it used to when I was in my 20s

I'm a pipe fitter-welder and I work mostly in industrial. I usually have to travel accross Canada 99% of the time since there is no work in my area. I also taught welding for the first time at a local college last year.

Retired 4 1/2 years ago at age 55. 36 year federal pension between the Army and Post Office. Held a Senior Manager Position as an Equal Opportunity Employment Analyst. Yeah, I have worked in a few oil refineries. I was working in Newfoundland most of this year. There are a few projects going on there, but the one I was at is going to be a nickel processing plant.
