Imagine this, 3-speed bump

Thats right a 3d speed bump is being used in Canada.

Officials in West Vancouver, Canada, apparently aren't satisfied with the driver-slowing properties of traditional speed bumps. On Tuesday, the town unveiled a new way to persuade motorists to ease off the gas pedal in the vicinity of the École Pauline Johnson Elementary School: a 2-D image of a child playing, creating the illusion that the approaching driver will soon blast into a child.

Instead of a static image, that doesn't change....either A: make bigger speed bumps, or B: gets some damn cops out there! Freakin Canadians..lol

I can see this going south real quick...

 

People are going to get used to seeing this image and when it is a real kid then they are gonna think its the painting and run the kid over.

 

yea like, "OH MY GAWD, i just hit a kid... i didnt see him, i was going by the school at 10pm and a kid just appeared in front of me"

What about that person that will swirve to avoid the child and then hit a parked car or an actual kid. I don't see it as a good idea. Cool but still bad.

 

i was listening this morning, (canadian radio station for vancouver) the beat 94.5 that in vancouver they are placing a new ticket system in place where if you are driving 40km over the speed limit(not as much as it sounds) the first offense is like 1300 dollars with ur car impounded for 7 days. second offense is 1500 and 30 day car impound. they are cracking down hardcore

they have something similar to that here in ontario. 50 km/h over the speed limit and its an automatic 7 day license suspension and car impoundment (regardless of if you are the owner). and a fine of up $10,000 dollars

next offense follows the similar thing, 30 day suspension etc etc
