Plowing out.

We finally got some winter the other day. It took a couple of hours of plowing on my 4-wheeler to clear my driveways.

The plow machine is a '98 Polaris 425 Magnum with a 4' blade and a winch to raise and lower it.

It's probably not the most efficient way to go, but I have fun doing it.

wow, you've got some pretty country up there, ..especially w/ the snow cover! we've had a big-time lack of snow down here thus far, ..but good to see it's snowing somewhere!

i noticed in your pic w/ the driveway to the barn, you've got two conifers that are severely listing, ..snowloading or something else going on there?..

 

That's a Blue Spruce that had a double top on it. They both got broken/bent over in a wind/thunder storm this past summer. I'll look at them come spring to see if they will come back. If not I'll just cut them off. I have quite a few friends in the logging/tree industry. I'll ask questions before I do anything though.

 

i used to have a sportsman 500 (polaris) and plowed my driveways at the house and cabin. That was alot of fun, i miss that sold it and now i have to pay someone to plow my driveway. cools pics.

 

I bought mine used and have run it for the last 9 years with no problems except batteries every couple of years. Last winter it got a new stator and this spring a fuel pump. It needs a battery again, but there is enough to run the winch after pull starting it.

I wouldn't give mine up except for another one jusst like it!

 

i don’t plow ( don’t get anuff snow) but if we did i would prob use the rhino over the rancher. if i just did are drive way and maybe 1 other. if i have a full size truck maybe that and make money doing more driveways.

i have been plowing before with my cousin thats near buffalo. i tagged along for fun.

 

nice horses! Definitely a nice piece of property! My Aunt has 6 horses. (don't ask what they are I have no idea. lol) She rescued them and got them back to normal. really awesome animals!

 

There are 4 horses, 1 of them is on a free-lease to a student at Alfred U. There are also 2 dogs, a 22lb. cat, and a chinchilla, but I don't have any pets. They are all belong to my wife and step-daughters. They just keep appearing.

It sure is an easy way to keep her, (them), happy!

 

I've ridden with a couple of friends out plowing. I would have to have a dedicated plow truck though. I seems to beat the snot out of them even when taking it easy. Front ends and drive lines take a beating and are expensive fixes. Not something I can afford. (My Toy takes all my spare cash!)

 

Currently its a work in progress, but it will soon be a plow truck, its a 1967 Ford F250 High Boy, it will also be getting a lift gate and a good towing hitch and will be my hard working truck as well. It used to be a old towing truck so it actually has heavier rear springs and front springs too, only thing wrong with it is the old 390 had a bad knock so needs to be replaced, thats it!

 

I don't plow mine because there is nowhere to put it. Sides of the drive get too tall and never really melt off. I use my 10 horse Husqvarna snowthrower. Not much it won't get through.

I wish we got enough snow down here to require plowing. Last time it snowed 12" the roads never got plowed because this town doesn't own any plows lol. They iced up pretty bad for a week or so.

 

yeah my cousin dose landscaping and plowing. he has like 4 trucks with plows. and a bob cat with a blower(i think it’s a blower but idk)

 

Thank you! Yeah that is my favorite Ford truck body style, getting rare it is, rarely see a 3/4 ton like that anymore, most are beat to shit or rusted apart by now. This one wont though, I take care of my pickups, cant wait to get her running! Its almost there, probably a couple more days of work but I had to head back to college so it will sit until I go home next

 

Plows? Where I come from we don't need stinking plows!

We don't do much plowing in Florida..

I have plowed with my brother in law in Maryland though. He has a F-250 - he does commercial plowing, taking care of his landscape customers.

I can't say that I would classify it as an enjoyable experience.

 

would be sweet with a 4.6 terminator motor.

 

I'm more of a Chevy guy, but that is a sweet truck. You may want to look into fuel iinjected 460. I had one in an '89 Centurion F250. All set up to tow, not plow. It was a great motor for me. With 35's and 4.10 gears, I was getting 13-15 mpg's with it, even with a C6...no OD!
