Torque also has a built-in compass and inclinometer display, duplicating the function of the FJ gauge pod. Of course, you wouldn't need that now...

Option for option, the FR-S is a better buy on paper, I haven't driven the MX-5 to compare on the road, but the downfall to the MX-5 is its only sold in convertible its appears.

I sat in an MX-5 at the mazda dealership when the woman was buying her Mazda 3 GX. Wasn't a fan, even smaller than the FR-s is inside.

Vis is good to me on mine, and i use the man shifting on the stick more than i use the paddles. i dont drive with both hands on the wheel all that much, so i forget about it alot of the times

 

Flappy pedals? You mean paddle shifters? Visibility is great, and the shifters are spot on, if you down shift or want to and the RPM is too high, it'll beep at you. I usually use the gear shifter for in town manual mode driving and the paddle shifters for highway, slight curvy road driving. Very quick shifting response too.

It definitely got quicker response after the break in period, noticeably quicker.
