Max-4_Yota's: 4WD 82' Toyota Pickup Build

Always wanted a pre 85' toyota. Found a 1982 4x4 a mile from my house for $600 bucks and picked it up. Need ALOT of TLC and a few prayers but soon enough it will be done.

The frame is in good shape and the body is pretty straight. Im going to make it as reliable as possible first then start the mods.

Got it running today full tune up, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. Drove it around the yard/woods some. 4WD works great. It knocks a little and has low oil pressure. Probably get the motor rebuilt within the next month probably mid july.

 

Nice find and your off to great start! I can't wait to see this thing transform.

 

Started tearing out the motor today, probably have it out by wed. or so. While it's getting rebuilt i'll probably go ahead and have the tranny looked over and start rebuilding the front and rear axles, new seals and whatnot. Gonna go ahead and rip the carpet out and either herculine it or put in a rubber mat.

Love it dude. Looks like the pinion seal may be going.

Don't bother dovetailing the bed; just pull the bedsides off and go ahead to tube. You can tie it to your exo-cage later when you get to that point

 

The whole damn thing is going But it's a work in progress.

 

I couldn't tell if the axles were leaking or not, but the pinion and t-case sure as hell seem to be.

Looking forward to seeing where you go with it man. Hope to pick up something similar myself in a year or two.

 

You need to find a Corinthian leather steering wheel and swap it in

damn that looks like a fun project truck, expecially since its got a solid axle up front. we have an old 86 Yota as our secondary/work truck, its IFS though

In all seriousness, these are by far my favorite body style and I look for this to be a great build! It's crazy was cleaning the interior and washing the thing did for it, I can't wait to see where it goes

 

Throw in a bag of cheetos and its a deal!

 

Got the motor out today. Fairly easy and luckly no bolts broke. Going to try to get a new/rebuilt one by next week.
