KTMs scare me....they are just to finicky and maintenance heavy from what i hear :(

On that note, the only KTM i ever considered was the 350exc and i'm not made of money. I can see people buying the 450 and 500 for only another grand or so though

I think part of it is the whole, once someone points it out you notice it more, thing, but I have buddies with both and they always seem to be fixing something. Usually mid-trip to try and get home haha

Just like I'd feel safer in a Toyota than a Chrysler, same with a Honda over a BMW bike.

Got my larger footpegs and hand guards installed today. Tomorrow I jet the carb, throw the new air filter in, change the front sprocket and when that's done I drop it off for new tread.

    Nice! Good job, man!

Let me know what you narrow it down to and what factors you're taking into consideration.

Things are great here. I haven't been on hardly at all because I'm in Israel. I've been here over a month and have about a week left before I head home. I've gotten so many great pictures. Can't wait to share some when I get home. For some reason Flickr won't let me sign in from here.

Other than that just enjoying life and meeting as many people as I can. This place is amazing!

    How you been?

I didn't know you were still shipping out. Isreal is one place in the middle east that i would actually go to. I've heard its a gourgeous country. Can't wait to see your camera work man! Stay safe out there and on the trip home.

I've been fantastic other than the past few days its been raining and i got no work done
I've actually found a DRZ to go look at but i have go get work done (on a big job now) then all my other little jobs done. Hopefully the guy will call or at least text me back so i know if he has sold it or not.

The course got really easy after i got moving faster. I was just a little too tall for the bike and had to sit partially on the passenger seat to have enough room to get my feet on the rear brake and shifter.
Only real problem i had was gear chainges; which is really to be expected on an old worn out suzuki GZ250 (thats what MD has for the course). I was fine with the clutch but it would slam into and out of gears like it wasn't liking it. Sometimes, specifically in the hard breakinh portions, i'd have to stomp several times on the shifter just to go from 2nd to 1st. It wasn't too bad.

Practice your turns, look into the turn for the exit.....learn to feel and control the weight shift and feel of counter steer also practice rolling on the throttle to gradually progress through turns.

You can also test stopping as fast as you can but don't anticipate the stops and brake too soon.

My test consisted of: two back to back uturns in a confined box, one swerve to the right (around a makeshift school bus) at 10-15mph then a firm quick stop, one braking section based on speed (the faster you go the more room you are given to brake....unless you anticipate and let off early), then two big wide turns and a stop (to test the slow-look-press-roll technique).

My uturns i did in first gear and used only the friction of the clutch to move the bike through the box.

~15mph was my sweet spot for everything else.

I've heard that the hardest part is the figure-8(double u-turn). But people that have gone through it here have said that it's impossible to fail.

There were several people in my class that looked like they would never pass and they passes so yeah....i guess. My goal was to be in the 90th percentile :D
Blew that out of the water :D :D :D

You'll be fine. The figure eight is easy if you use nothing but the friction of the clutch (using the friction zone) and the rear brake.

I was also told you can skip the figure eight entirely and still pass. Which one person did in my class.
