Yea I'm thinking perhaps just a drop in TuRD filter at this point.

My tC came with a K&N drop in when I got it. Makes a little noise sometimes. I want to get an aFe Pro Dry S ram air intake when I do purchase an intake

Careful on that. A lot of Ram air designs end up grabbing air from below the car. My brother put one of his old civic and ended up sucking up a lot of snow & mud & rain.

I'm unfamiliar with the TC1 aftermarket intakes. You could be right, just make sure its not the low down ground type.

Will do! I actually was looking into shorty ram airs. I know the CAI goes into the plastic guards in front of the driver's side wheel. My friend Chris had an issue with that sucking in water

Apparently the the TRD uses something that call an Air Inlet Flow Accelerator. Aka: A half tube turning 90 degrees that directs air into the TRD Device haha.

You'd probably get the same effect doing that to the stocker.

    Ordered more parts:

Found a guy parting out his show car tC. Bought an NRG Oil Catch Can brand new never used & a set of front & rear R1 Concepts Premium Series brake rotors that were installed for 2 months. Got a sweet deal

Dezod just posted over on the scion forums that the header actually only weighs 11 pounds. Sweet! Another pound shed confirmed and I didn't even have to do anything for it!

I've been fine tuning my torque setting with the car all week, haven't configured it for the car since I bought it. Takes a lot of sitting around at idle haha.

The plan is to get consistent readings that I can use as a baseline. Currently been reading all over the place, like from 56 hp to 157 hp lol.

Also been getting a fuel mileage discrepency, the cars fuel counter says I'm getting 30.6 MPGs but the torque claims 35.4 MPG. Looks like I might have to start tracking manually as well with my fill ups in order figure out which one to believe.

Hey TORSPD. I'm trying to figure out what the best way is to get consistent readings between runs. How long should a person wait between runs to dissipate heat soak? Should I just wait for coolant to be at temp? Cause I've had a few times I've push er now looking for signs and I think my coolant maybe went up a degree IF even that.

I'm tuning everything for a 2nd gear run, from 1000 rpm crawl foot to the floor till red line after the vehicles warmed up at operating temp.

Lots of variables will dictate how long you have to wait. However, coolant temp is a good indication. Due to your geographic location (cold) you should start doing your testing when the engine is up to temp.

Then between pulls, monitor the temperatures. If they are still cool, then you can go again. Also to consider, is the length of the pull you do. A fourth gear pull will create longer sustained heat than a second gear pull.

If you can watch oil temp that would be very good as well.

Lastly, you need time to let the brakes cool, depending on how you are braking after each run.

All of these things only you can know.

To be consistent, start at the same RPM and stop at the same rpm each time. Make sure your tire pressures are even. 3rd gear might be easier, if you can floor it and not get wheel spin. As that will greatly throw the readings off.

Thanks for the info! Went out today and concentrated specifically on finding a coolant base. Regular is 84 C, driving the thing balls to the wall I only got it up to 88 C. I'm going to have to check for oil temp readings, I'm certain its a measured value I just have to set it up to watch it.

Excellent info on the brakes, but a week too late  When I was at the Vegas Speedway the guys there gave me a crash course on it. I learned about it then but never really crossed my mind before hand. haha.

Went out to middle of no where today to calibrate the Torque App for a couple hours. Had a buddy of mine drive various scenarios while I sat taking readings. Learned some very important things today:

    1) The ELM 327 bluetooth adaptor is no where even remotely close to capable of streaming data quickly or reliably. Updating about every half second and missing occasional updates. Also learned that Oil Temp & Pressure doesn't seem to me a measured value apparently. Which I find odd for sure, going to look into this further.

So now I'm going to start researching into better OBD2 reading tools. If I'm going to upgrade, I might as well get a hardline connection and put Torque right through to my laptop instead of running it off the cell phone. Would make it more user friendly too. I've got a Sony Duo Ultrabook for a laptop and it works awesome so should suit my needs.

    2) The engine bay of a tC has serious heat dissipation issues. Its about 26 C today, air intake temps fluctuated between 29-32C and had a SERIOUS issue with heat soaking during sitting Idle. Stopped while configuring gauges the Intake Air temp went up to over 72C and took almost 8 kilometers of highway travel to cool back down to 31C. A quick survey showed why, the intake area is pretty poorly located/designed, basically at the side of the engine bay open to the world. So well placed heat shields would do the stock intake wonders.

    3) 3rd Gear pulls start from 1500 RPM & 36 Km/H to 6350 RPM & 135 Km/H.
