    Thanks!

Yeah, I've seen that around in a few builds. Just a standard cane cap, right?

 I remember a great quote from a friend, "Good ol' Hi-lifts. Just sketchy enough to make you feel like you're gonna die each time you use one." (May not be verbatim... :anonymous: )

    Thanks!

The sealant on the compressor end of the air line fittings is cured so I hooked it up with teflon tape and got it right first try! Doesn't restart for at least 30 minutes. :woot:

Even better, for some reason now it's lasting 2 hours before the pressure switch actuates the compressor....so I added four potential sources of leaks in the system and it's lasting longer than it did before.
    Oh well, I'll take it!

I got some L brackets today and drilled holes in them to accept the quick disconnect fittings for the air line. I was going to start drilling the holes to mount them on the truck, but it got dark... :pout: Hopefully it won't rain all day tomorrow so I can finish it up!

And they're mounted! Super solid and so much easier to work with now.

You can see the fittings through the gap between the bed and the cab, which is nice instead of fumbling around under the bedside trying to feel for the fittings when attaching the air hose.

Got a scosche for my phone. I like how the plate that you put on the phone for the magnet to stick to is basically completely hidden, versus the nite eyez one where you put a little crater on your phone.
    Thanks for the suggestion, Micah!

Might be making an impromptu Anza Borrego camping trip tomorrow. It's supposed to be pretty hot but we'd be mostly spending the night and getting up early to see the Swainson's Hawks kettling and hunting in Borrego springs. If we go tomorrow we'll just take my mom's truck, but if all of my family goes later in the week I'll hopefully be able to set up a sleeping platform and be able to test that out.

In other news, looking at scepter cans now...gotta get some additional fuel storage for the long trip Pliny and I are planning in the end of April.

Oh and the adhesive on the velcro that I used for attaching the cb radio is failing, unfortunately. It seems to hold well enough, so we'll see what happens.

Interestingly enough, the desert forecast is only supposed to be up to mid-90's! It was 98F at my backyard yesterday, so that's really not too bad if we're just spending basically an evening and a morning. We'd be avoiding the hottest part of the day.
Regardless, it sounds like my sister wants to go, too, so we're probably going to hold off until she's available in a few days. It'll be a little cooler then!

I think I used superglue on the last one, and it was really solid, so I'll definitely give that another shot. Thanks!

I think it's going to be different for you, but my back window has a gap between the cab and the outer edge of the window and the coax fit perfectly in there. I doubt your truck has that gap though. I can take a photo of it close-up if you want.
You can kinda see where it goes (into the channel, around the passenger side, and down between the bed and the cab) in this photo:
    [IMG]IMG_5538_cleaned_small by 92shawman, on Flickr

After dropping down under the truck it goes alongside some other wires and then up through one of the drain plugs in the foot area of the passenger seat. Then just under the carpet and up to the center console area.

That certainly would make it easy, but I'm not sure that it is.
If the border/seal area of the window looks like this, it's not the same...
    126-Copy_894a0d63d98031fcf72d40a4844a06c4fab64ce2.jpg

And I siliconed it into the groove that my window has, so it doesn't flap around, to my knowledge.
I also siliconed the hole that the coax goes into, but I doubt there would be any leakage anyways, the fill plug is pretty snug around the cable.

Gotcha, well it looks like it should work, then! I was going off of your sig pic, looking through the back window it looked like the only lines in the rear window were those from your topper's uprights in the bed, so I thought yours might be one piece.

Speaking of sculpins, my friend recommended the habanero sculpin...not. a. fan. Dunno if you've tried it, but it was just too much going on for me. Luckily we had that modern times March IPA as well, so we had that the rest of the evening and it made up for the habanero sculpin, and then some. So damn delicious! I also asked Bevmo if they would have the modern times IPA more into april and they said they usually have it in stock until about mid-april, so I'll get one or two right before I leave in a week and then see if they still have it when I get back to try and get a fresh one.

Started working on my sleeping platform today. I got a 4x8 sheet of pretty nice birch, formaldehyde free 1/2" plywood. In Home Depot I started with the mediocre 1/2" plywood and went back to get a free cut so it would fit in the bed of the truck and found the nice birch for only $2 more, and it's actually a little thinner so it's lighter. I would've needed to add support anyways, so it was perfect.

I cut the pieces for a 2.5' wide platform. With the sheet I bought I can cut it up just right into pieces that rearrange to make a full platform when my girlfriend joins me camping. For now, though, I'm just doing one side because I need to have it done by next tuesday.

One 4x2.5 foot piece from the tailgate to the front of the wheel well and the other 2 foot piece to the front of the bed. That 2 foot length is removable and is over the spare tire in the bed, so I can just pull the small piece of the platform out and then I can pull the spare out. Not perfect, but it'll do for now.

I've got some 2x4's and 2x2's that I'll use to frame the plywood for support, and 4x4s for upright supports. All the pieces are cut and I just need to screw them all together! We'll see how it turns out.
