Yeah I'm not fucking around on this thing. Figured I'm doing brakes (even though I'll be under the weight requirement), may as well do it right. I got an Engager breakaway kit (same one that's on my flatbed) with a 5 amp hour battery.

It would be more fun if you head on over and help me build!

Did a preliminary suspension cycle with my current planned leaf setup.
    With 33" tires:
Frame height at full droop will be roughly 27".
Frame height at full bump will be roughly 18.5".
My math gets a little fuzzy here, but I calculated a frame height on a fully loaded trailer (obviously based on weight) should be around 21-22".

For those two lazy to subtract that's 8.5" of travel (Was aiming for 9" but I'll take it).

    Full droop:

I know right...pathetic. I should just kick rocks and leave this shit to the pros.

Funny thing is...my trailer has more travel than the front of your truck. Just saying.

    That's gnar.
4 link would scare me on a trailer. I mean I was shooting for 9" cap on travel because of instability issues at speed. After all, a trailer is more of a 3 wheeler than a 4 wheeler. You sir....your balls must be hanging low.

It has shocks now, which control it a lot better. it also only has a 4 foot wide bed, but an axle as wide as the trucks. it still needs some work, but at 45-60 mph over rough terrain, it handles better than the truck.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Structural integrity! If it ever rolls over you won't bend/break any of the framework

    Got the tongue done today.
The frame came out way beefier than I had expected. I mean I knew the materials I was going to use and all...just never built a trailer before and didn't realize how gnar it was going to end up till it started taking shape. You could drive a 1 ton truck on this thing and it wouldn't flinch.

    null_zps2516826d_fab6f78503dd9a73506057e169f161608eb9fc41.jpg

    null_zps731adfc1_cf3881c8ab20a6c42652451f59f7e568273864c3.jpg

I thought about stopping at that point...but what the hell. Still had daylight.
I'm SO GLAD I worked out all the numbers for the suspension already. Having it all mapped out and written down made installing it a snap. I've officially got a roller.

    null_zps1f641718_5bb71d158976545bda944b5ffefebc5701848bd5.jpg

    null_zps939870b5_4b2c5f1cf22ff829f5e51d5eada6c865d91c3fcc.jpg

    null_zpsbcf5e3ed_4c8a165e438701d39ee5d00c70cc4bf54cd9a5a0.jpg

Here you can see the leaf details. Damn near vertical shackles at the moment with zero weight. But they move really easy. Just bouncing on the frame with my skinny ass and they've got really good movement. I'll definitely have to do some kind of shock setup as they rebound too fast.

So final details on the suspension are

Pro Comp 4" lift springs for the front of a Jeep YJ
WFO Concepts Leaf Spring Hangers (designed to fit a 2" frame and taper out to a 2.5" spring)
WFO Concepts Shackle Hanger (again, designed for a 2" frame)
    Homemade 5" shackles
Energy Suspension spring & shackle bushing set (actually designed for a old K5 blazer but the dimensions were exactly what I needed).

    null_zpsd2513c76_463c68ccf016e17f180e3a660dc7439272364661.jpg

Andy lastly checking tongue length, max hitch angle, and hitch drop length.
I'm over 90* with the current trailer length of 126" and so far very pleased. My tow receiver hitch is snuggled in between the tubes on my bumper and quite high. It's looking like a 7.25" drop is what I'll end up using.
