Scored a 1986 Toyota pickup rolling chassis.

    Means I got:
    - IFS width rear axle
    - An extra differential to regear.
    - IFS width hubs for the front.
    - 5spd tranny
    - Rear leaf pack
    - Scrap metal :)

Nice! Your rear axle now isn't ifs width? Gonna regear the 86 one and put in yours and regear the front?

Nope IFS width is 3" wider.

And yes. Also gonna rear the 3rd from my axle so I'll have a spare

Looks awesome! Cool to see your truck next to that "high tech" fj. Two very different vehicles. Fj with all the electronic junk. And now I want sliders, but may be getting a new frame through recall so we'll see.

Yeah they are two completely different vehicles! That FJ was awesome though and wheels really really well. He's locked rear w/ that atrac/limited slip up front so that thing will go! I hung with him for the most part (I'm open/open), but he did kill us all on one hill climb!

I'm really looking forward to see what this thing can do when I get lockers because I can follow the locked guys pretty much everywhere as is. I surprise myself every time I get in this thing!

When you get ready for sliders, hit up BashFab (01tac0ma).. I love my sliders!

I saw Drew wheel this thing in person. Very capable truck, and driver. (Do gotta trust in your spotter more though! *grin* )

So did you get your clutch replaced since that trip? Poor thing was on it's last leg there.

Thanks for the truck and driver comment! Sometimes it's hard to follow y'all's advice because of my lack of power steering (I don't think y'all knew that) so when y'all are like turn left, well I physically can't.. Lol I'm fixing that soon though..

And it is hard to listen to someone you barely know when it comes to the difference in messing your truck up or not.. When I went to morris mtn. with Matt he had to be like "dude, just watch me and nothing else"! Sorry guys  I try! I'll get better! When me and my brother used to go a lot, we NEVER spotted each other so you had to figure it out alone, but it made us better drivers!

And no :D I haven't yet! I was gonna this morning, but I had about 0% motivation. I've got a trip with BamaOffroadGroup to Hawk Pride ORV on November 1st so I gotta get it done by then!

For the build: I picked up an IFS steering box last night for $50 :) I now have everything for high steer!

Hey no worries! I was just ribbing you about it. When I was spotting for the PORA people KNEW us spotters were pros, and knew what we were doing. Big difference between that, and trusting a stranger.

I headed up to Choccoloco ORV today after lunch just to ease around a bit.. My brother hadn't rode in my truck since I lifted it so I decided I'd stretch her legs for him a little..

Well I tried this hard trail. It's called Torque and it's a steep hill with some roots and several sizeable rock ledges. I made it all the way to the last ledge and my truck died. I hate carbs. I crunk it up but just didn't have enough momentum to get myself out of the rut and onto the line I needed to make it. So I backed down.

Well i broke a motor mount and my front main seal/crankshaft seal decided to crap as well and sling oil everywhere. But I had a spare motor mount and stopped by the parts house and got a seal.

Spent the evening changing those & was gonna do a little fabrication to the ole square D-shaft because I didn't like how it was too short and it knocked real bad, but my buddy is in the middle of a 3rz swap and the one he build for his 22r motor is a good bit longer than mine so he gave me his and he's gonna use my joints to make one for the 3rz..

That 3rz swap is stupid simple if you swap the whole dash, which is easy. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes out for a parts truck :spy:

Is it possible you could get a better carburetor? Like a 4 barrel instead of a 2 barrel..if that is what you have..

Thanks Chad! She needs some gears and tires!

It's a 2 barrel.. and not really a better one out there. I'm running a Weber 32/36 which is awesome on road and super easy to adjust, but they just aren't the greatest offroad. I did the hill climb mod and it helped, but its nothing like fuel injection. The stock Aisin carbs are pretty good offroad, but they have a crap load of vacuum hoses and smog equipment and they aren't as powerful.

After I get gears & tires, I'm gonna turn my attention to a motor swap. I know a guy with a '88 Pickup that I can get for really cheap so I may get it and start on the swap.

I've thought about dual fuel, but I want something that's gonna be better for driving on the street also. And I can't decide if I wanna deal with the tuning issues. This 22r w/weber is like a tractor and I would like a little stronger smoother power plant. Like a 3rz or maybe a built 22re.
