1993 Toyota T100 "Build"

Update: sold this truck. Had intended on keeping it forever, but I'm moving. Goodbye T100, you'll be forever missed... a lot.

Thanks for checking out my truck. I've got a 1993 Toyota T100, my first truck of my own (I'm 17 years old). $800 got me this truck. Needed some tlc but nothing a little time and money can't fix! This isn't really a "build" like some on this site, but just me fixing up my truck with what little money I've got. Hope at least someone enjoys!

Heck yeah man! 800 is pretty damn good for a Yota. What other plans do you have for it?

 

Well, the bumpers are the biggest thing right now. I'll be putting some kind of a pipe bumper on. Also adding more lights, two on the front and one facing back. I'd like to find a decent rollbar to put some lights on but they're hard to find used here. I'm gonna dd it until I can afford a newer tacoma, then hopefully turn this truck into my trail ride. Nothing too major in the near future. So much I want to do but not money! Lol

 

I know the feeling!
There's lots of guys/groups up here that make bumpers, though I'm not sure if the dimensions for a T100 are the same as a Tacoma. In fact, I think that the T100's would be bigger. Do you plan on making it yourself? If you've already got the equipment or know someone that does, it'd be a lot cheaper than buying a bumper. Same thing with the rollbar.

 

Yeah, I don't have a welder or anything but there's a mom and pop shop just down the road from me that does stuff like that for pretty cheap. I'll need to come up with the materials first. I'll probably just have them weld a piece of pipe to the back and wait a while before I mess with the front. The front bumper is pretty rusted, I did my best to sand it down and paint it. It works but it's not pretty

It was originally listed for $1500, then the guy dropped to $1000, so I offered $800. It was a guy and his father who owned it and they had way too many vehicles on their road so I think that's why they got rid of it so cheap. Def. needed some work but I think it's decent for what I paid!

 

Quick update for anyone who cares: I put my mudflaps back on figured if it keeps a little more salt off my truck the better, they'll be coming off again in the spring. Also bought a cb radio and an antenna, nothing special just a cobra 19 ultra iii with an 18" antenna. The antenna was only $15 so I'm hoping to get a 4' fire stick soon. I'm out of town now but when I get home and install it I'll take pictures!

Edit: went back and tucked in the power wire and zip tied it. Also tried to clean up the floor, didn't realize it was that bad until I took a picture! It's that nasty iron ore muddy crap that's hard to clean we get here in the yoop.



And this is my antenna. Nothing special, just a little one to get the job done for now.

 

Winter is sadly, finally here. Did some other little stuff to the truck. Added an American flag to the regular radio antenna, and put some more stickers on the window. Also added some interior shots to this thread because I realized I didn't have any!

This is what my CB looks like from the driver's point of view; out of the way but still easily accessible


This is the head unit I'm running, nothing special just a little JVC to get the job done. The USB is ran to the glove box where I have an old 32gb iPod that is cracked so bad the screen doesn't work, but will still play the music over USB to the radio when it's in the truck.



Because my truck is limited on cab storage space, I got one of these to hold my SPY+ glasses. Works great!


These are the stickers I've got. On the left side is a SPY+ sticker & a Bone Collector sticker. On the right is an American flag, and a Monster sticker.

Look up the ISR mod.

Since your 17 your next mod should be a flowmaster muffler

 

Thank you! Haha, it's already got a glasspack.. It sounds decent but not too loud, I spend quite a bit of time on the trails with the windows down and don't want anything too obnoxiously loud. And I've heard about that, I've researched it a little bit but not a whole lot. I probably will end up doing something to the intake in the near future, not sure what yet though.

 

So I found something interesting. Under the hood of my truck I found this sticker.



I've only got just under 125xxx miles on it, about 400 or so to go. So between now and April 5th 2006, there has only been about 22k miles put on my truck. Also, timing belt replaced! That was an awesome find.

Do you guys think I should replace the timing belt again? Engine runs really good, don't see a need for it mile wise, but I wasn't sure because 2014 is right around the corner, and that would be 8 years since it's been replaced.

Thank you! I really want to start with some of those smaller mods, but I'm really hesitant because if I screw something up I don't have the money to fix it. Plus, I'm the only one in the family that does much with vehicles, so my tool choice is limited.

 

Quick update: truck is still running great. Almost to 125k miles, I'll be sure to snap a picture or get a video of it turning. It's been down to -30 some days, and I haven't had a problem starting the truck at all, even with the sketchy battery. I'm taking off the mudflaps again, I just can't stand how it looks with them on haha. Might be getting a capper for the back, a guy is selling a black aluminum one for $50 for an 8' dodge box, might be a little narrow but I should be able to make it work. Just gotta replenish the funds a little bit

I also really wanted to put Christmas lights on the truck this year, but the $25 for an inverter is a lot when you're a broke high school kid For sure putting some on next year!

as far as the capper, I don't think an 8' topper will work, unless you don't mind and extra 8" to 12" of topper extending beyond end of bed...


I may be wrong on the topper, but I think the bed in the T100 is shorter than 8'...


When I was in HS, I walked, rode my bike, or, if lucky, got to use the family car, first owned car was when I started University...

You might be thinking of the 95+ T100's that were the extended cab, but I'll have to go measure my bed to see if it will work. Def. don't want any extending over the end of the bed. I told the guy I'll put it on my truck and if it fits good I'll take it and if not I'll have to pass.

And yeah, I'm super lucky to have my own vehicle Even if my truck breaks down in a week (I sure hope not!!) I told my mom that's it's already been a learning experience. I really want to get myself into a nice 1st gen Tacoma next summer when I get a decent paying job and turn this into a weekend trail rig. But I also need $3600 for trucking school. Everything costs money..and a lot of it!
