Minor details; carry a 4 foot step ladder and go with maximum offset rims and 3 inch billet wheel spacers

That's impressive, but not practical for the terrain out here.

Largest tire Im gonna run, is a 285/70/17. Those will fit stock, so the only thing I need a lift for, is better departure angle, and break over angle.

Do you have an idea yet for a lift height?

Seen them 44's snap like twigs on the trail on more then one occasion on different trails. But those rigs were on 35's and 37's

That's what I read. 8.9" ring gear, vs. 8.5" (IIRC) for the standard D44. Checking the literature on different sites, they simply seem to label it as "Non Rubicon" D44, and "Rubicon D44", or the like. Regardless, its plenty strong for 33's. Seems guys are running 35's up to 37's without issues on the new axels.

Indeed, have rescued my share of D44'd jeep's

well, yes, it seems to be a common point for New jeeps to be set up too, however I have seen a number on the trails busted 35/37"s

You can break any axel. Ive broken a D60 axel on the street. All axels have a torque max. If you exceed it, that's when shit breaks. You can get a shit load of traction with a 33" tire, and hit the fun peddle, and snap an axel, if you have the torque multiplication of gearing. A lot of these guys are running 4.88's and up, with these larger tires too........engine torque x gearing = 12 shitloads of torque.........
