Yeah that set-up is beautifully done. The black and low seats kill it for me. Gear it towards the 650r looks. I personally dig the yellow

Man that looks good, I wonder if he has a thread on it. That shield almost looks like the bajaworx on procycle.com but slightly larger/taller. Also looks like he modified his stock seat to be a little wider, wonder how he did that...

So my cousin and I are planning a DS ride in the UP at the end of September. Should be Rad! I have begun to map out our Route using Garmin Basecamp. The UP makes it too easy! All the roads seem to be sand, dirt, gravel! Perfect!

I may have told you that i would like to have a DRZ400SM (with less that 7500miles) with both street and dirt setups but i'm just looking into most anything at this point....wouldn't want a fugly KLR even if they get the best mileage....wouldn't want an XR650 because they need waaaaaaaay to much work to make power. Can't afford either WR. Wouldn't want a dr650. So i've considered old XT350s, XR400s, xr250s.....its still up in the air. If i would get a sport bike, i would want a early kawisaki 636 (love the looks of the 03-04) but i can't trust myself with that kind of speed capability just yet haha. I'd like something in the 400cc range and less than $4k

That's definitely doable in your price range. After you've ridden a DS I don't think you'll want a sport bike ever again haha. I've longed for an old hardtail Harley but after riding my DS, I don't think so. I can't fathom being limited to the road. I'll get one years from now I'm sure but being able to rip up dirt then cruise at speed on the highway is an unbelievable feeling.

Have you searched for bikes outside your area? Around here you can get DRZ400SM's in your price range that haven't been beat the F up. A lot of the DRZ-S's can be found too.

All i find are beat to shit, people want to much money for them, or are too far from me. And realistically speaking, i only have $2k....the rest i'd have to loan. So i'm just holding out for early summer. My income is all but nothing in the winter months so it doesn't make sense to me to make payments (insurance or loan) over any period of time that i can't actually ride and enjoy the machine. If i got one late next spring. I could probably have it paid for by the end of fall (provided it was less than $4k). Oh well, am still young and indecisive. Just pains me to have a brand new motorcycle license and helmet....only to be without use of either :(

I'm also paying my way through college....out of pocket....i've already spent enough to have been able to go get a brand new 2014 DRZ

I don't really want to go that far but we shall see. I couldn't find time to make a three hour trip (one way) to go look at an 02 s model with only 6k miles back in July because i had just gotten a new job..... now working two jobs and going to school! Sheesh.

    Enough about me....lol

Have you done any new additions yet? You have any idea how many miles/hours you have on your bike?

One addition but not mine, helped my cousin pick up a 2006 DRZ400s the other weekend. 3400 miles $2200. It was neglected though so he's got some work to do. Still got out to ride with him and we put on about 50 miles. He crashed once... Rookie!! Got to remember that the front brake is 70% of your stopping power! He jammed his back break and went into a skid, luckily I gave him my riding jacket so he came out unscathed. He'll never do that again :D

His new ride, the guy we got it off of was a short fucker so it was lowered 2"...

I've also been trying to figure out which motorcycle hitch carrier to get for the big UP Michigan trip since I want to have my shell on. I'm upgrading to the OME suspension to handle the weight too!!:D
