Yes rigid is by far the best in lights. At a shop here they had the little quad light in a fish tank, on, for 4 years straight. Water finally got through the jacket on the cable and corroded it. That's what sold me. Haha

I'll take a 50,000 hour lifespan over lightforces quoted 3000 hours.

that is a great plus to any LED.

Ill take the extra few hundred usable meters from the bigger light though. Changing bulbs is easy and cheap.

I want to see their new curved LED bar though..that'll be very cool.

I have a new mission. Not only beat monte but convert him. Haha i cant find their distance ratings on their site? I know a rigid 50" is just under a mile of usable light.

at .25 lux? no..anything less then 1 lux isn't usable. So more like 770m

And send me one..that might convert me..ha

i have been curious to see a big LED bar up against my current setup. jason had a 40'' Okledbar and 30'' but the 40s mounts broke off the way he had it in his lower valence so didn't get to see it.

    here is their catolauge.

even the 240 Halogen beats the 50'' LED for 1 lux

    http://www.lightforceusa.com/images/pages/LF%20DL%20CATALOGUE%20FEB%202010_email1.pdf

    35w HID is at 1200m @ 1lux

50w HID will be even more isn't on there tho..

    this is on page 9

Also id like to note to anyone read this..im not trying to discourage your from getting these lights. They are awesome in many many ways. And Ben is a great dude. Buy with confidence.

Depends on what you're trying to pick up. You'll get reflection at that distance but yeah, I see your point. Having a giant reflector bowl has its output advantages for sure, but as far as energy consumption, heat output, mounting options, warranty, customer service, and continued technological gains I'd say rigid wins. And I can say that because this is my thread.

exactly. Lots of options out there and different needs for everyone.

My LEDs are my favorite for trail runs. But i like my big lamps for the open big areas.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing how the q4's perform for that. Billy is making me a roof rack right now and I think I'm putting one on each corner with a 30" in between on the sodes and a RDS bar on the front. Thats my wishlist anyhow. Haha

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I would also vote the led rigid light is the best option for woods, trails etc even open area up to moderate speed.

If I was doing big area high speed the led does not have the incredible reach of the 6x9 55w hid kc daylighters in my garage. But each set of those, is the price of a 30-40 inch rigid and they don't last forever more or less. Also they are glass lens hid bulbs that can be broken easily. And replacing them is outrageous so I have never really used them.

The rigid is the best, most practical solution for 80 percent or better of wheeling and even though the buy in is high the cost to run etc is practically nothing.

And the 30" rigid e series I have is very very impressive in range for the package size. I have not measured but I would venture to believe that there is usable light out 400-500 meters and reflections from signs etc out probably near a mile.

The low heat, low energy consumption, impressive distance and brightness, longevity and durability is probably in a compact package is probably unbeatable across so many categories. Yes some big HID beast mode lights will out range the rigid, no question there. But any light that is comparable in ouput and usability that's not a rigid is really going to have some serious draw backs. Short life, hot cold cycle problems, fragile, expensive, hot.. still awesome. But I did a lot of looking and even tried the knock off rigid before I got the real deal and its worth every penny.

The only thing that I have found thay sucks so far is it doesn't like to stay set it rattles loose out of ajustment. Easy fix I'm sure just have to get to it.

That and if your battery is low the light will flicker.. but really is not a problem if you have a normal running vehicle.

LED bars don't fit in the 2012 and up hood scoops. They shrunk them way down for the current models. You can fit a 10" bar inside the 05-11 models hood scoops.

    PM'd

Some of you might have seen another thread I visited tonight regarding Rigid's pricing. Near as I can tell it's a ploy to undercut other vendors and is not supported by Rigid themselves. As was the case with Amazon vendors, guys like this will have their license pulled and warranties will not be offered on their products sold if it is in fact against Rigid's stringent pricing policy. If it's not, and it really is legit, I'll be the first to go back in there and apologize. I just find it very......odd.

Yeah I just read that. None of that makes sense to me either. Rigid would have 1. Updated their own site with that information before anyone else had access to pricing, and 2. Made some sort of news release about it. Maybe it's true with the new RDS bars in the works, who knows. But it does seem a bit odd...

I forwarded it along to Rigid. Let them square it away. Hope the guy was just misinformed. Always lame when people are knowingly delinquent with policies that help vendors stay afloat.
