Considering something goofy like a full bumper. How bad is the MPG drop?

    point one: goofy?

point 2: If you are worried about mpg, get a prius

sorry, I shouldn't respond to these before the coffee has kicked in.

I think if you get an aluminium bumper with no winch, then the drop in mpg is minimal if at all.

I'm betting the fat chicks you pick up on on the weekends are worse for mpg. The bumper not so much.

    Hey Tyler,

I may have missed this in the instructions and if I did sorry for the question. What do you do about securing the bottom of the grille? Since it clipped into the stock location only the 2 pins and 2 screws hold the top on. I was thinking some double sided sticky tape but wanted to ask the pro first.

P.S. Amber LOVES the new bumper :)

You could use a zip tie or tape if you like but its not necessary. With the hood closed its very secure. I just left mine as is, most people do.

tyler, can you clue me in to what lockable knob you used for your hi lift mount? is it a thule or yakima knob that just screws into a bolt on your mount?

Im considering getting your Hi Lift mount and putting it through the bedside just as you did but wanted a bit more information on the lockable knob that you have

I find them occasionally on Etrailer.com, I believe they are for Thule. I stopped offering them because their availability is so hit and miss.

A little lift and a little armor

Here ya go. Looks like they're $9. Good deal for sure! And looks like it would make taking the hi-lift on/off a little easier than just a wingnut! Might have to get some myself!
