Bout any grease will work. Same as any wheel bearing. Be sure to pack the bearings good before putting them in.

Can anyone give me a measurement from the tail gate (in closed position) to the mounting plate of the spare tire? I'll be ordering this rear bumper soon and wanna customize it a little. I have a bed cap and would the the rear cap window to clear the spare tire while the swing gate is closed. Any help, suggestions appreciated

First picture is tailgate to swingout, then second picture is from tailgate to the closest part of the tire mount. Third picture is the tape hooked onto the other side of the tire mount.

so there is ~3" of a gap between the gate and tailgate? awesome.

To the edge of the tailgate trim, yes. Our tailgate curves though, so there is probably a 1" or 1.5" of clearance at the apex of the tailgate curve.

No, they are a standard weld in pull pin. The only way you could really make it locking would be drilling an additional hole through the latch handle area and adding a pin lock or pad lock. I have searched for locking pull pins and came up empty.

I just had my bumper delivered yesterday and have been eyeing it up for installation. I noticed the one opening mechanism has a hole for a retention screw but the one next to the spindle does not. I was looking at this pic and saw there was a hole for a retention screw near spindle. was this just missed on my bumper and should I really be concerned.

Also There are two holes on the hinge of the tailgate that goes over the spindle. are these for the grease gun fitting? Should I connect the fitting to the top or bottom hole or am I missing something with the intended use of these holes?

I was looking at this pic and saw there was a hole for a retention screw near spindle. was this just missed on my bumper and should I really be concerned. No concern with the retention screw, some of the weld in pull pins come with them, some do not, we never know what we will get until they come in.

Also There are two holes on the hinge of the tailgate that goes over the spindle. are these for the grease gun fitting? Should I connect the fitting to the top or bottom hole or am I missing something with the intended use of these holes? There is a top hole that is the retention screw for the aluminum cap and a lower hole that is for the zerk fitting.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
