    i honesly have been lookin at some lockers for my 89 runner,

    here are two

    the aussie locker

    the aussie locker and lockright locker are always locked under torque, so if you go around a corner it will unlock but you may hear clicking which is normal and once you get back on the gas it will lock up again.

    the powertrax no slip is also always locked (i think correct me if i am wrong) but it has a different design so that when it unlocks or locks around corners its much quieter.

    its really what you prefer the aussie locker is the cheapest and just as good as the others!

    Which locker do you have installed and if you don't mind me asking what did it cost total including installation?

    Yes & No.

    To LOCK the wheels means that both wheels will spin regardless.

    But the type of locker you buy will determine whether they're locked all the time or not.

    Lunchbox lockers - as taco505 already mentioned - are locked ALL THE TIME.

    Selectable lockers can be engaged (locked diff) or disengaged (open diff)

    Before making any determinations of what you want/need - you should investigate the on-road manners of the lunchbox lockers. If you drive in a lot of ice/snow, lunchbox lockers are NOT a good idea.

    I had a lock rite lunchbox locker in the front of a 91 Pickup and I had the hardest time driving it on the road in the winter. I fought to keep it going straight. So now I have a 99 Tacoma and I was thinking about putting a Tru trac limited slip in the front. Anyone try that and how does it drive?

    Well..... obviously, the only time this is going to be of any benefit to you, is when you're in 4WD. And hopefully, you're only using 4WD in the snow or slick conditions. The limited slip will only work while going straight...but the logistics of how it actually acts while turning....is debatable.

    What do you have in the rear? If your rear is OPEN, you're far better off putting a limited slip in the rear for daily driving.

    Having lockers to begin with, is only for more serioius offroad conditions. Having one in the front, is really only for extreme offroad conditions. Even a selectable locker that's engaged in 4WD is gonna give you steering issues because you can't physically turn tightly with those CV joints. You can't even turn all that tightly with ujoints/solid front axle either.

    3" lift using Fox Shocks Coilover, Total Chaos UCA's. Running: Duratrac 285/70/17 Rear suspension just a 1" block for now. Will have custom rear springs no block. Fox w/ Resi.
    I will be putting ARB air lockers on my truck front and rear... part of some of my mods. :)

    Installed I got a quote of $1800 for both front and rear. with an on board air compressor to air my tires as well. :)

    lucky ass!! ill prob end up puttin in an aussie locker front and rear in my 89 runner, being that its my toy and the taco is my dd :D. id like to eventually upgrade to an arb but man they expensive!!
