I am wanting to put a 3" lift on my 2008 4x4 Trd offroad. A guy around town has the exact truck with a 3" lift and says he is only getting 9 MPG. Sounds crazy to me since I get around 18 now. What should I expect? Can anyone with a similar setup give me an idea.

well, all depends on how big/what kind(mt or at) of tires and how heavy your foot is.9 mpgs sounds like bs but if he isnt running a scan gauge hes not getting the right speddo reading witch will throw your mpg figures out the window.mine didnt change that much going to a 32" tire.i can still get 20 mpgs on the highway.

I'm running a 3" lift with 33" MTR's and get between 14 and 16. That's a combination of highway and city. 9 MPG is way low.

Oh, and there's a lot of extra weight on the front of my truck too!

yeah, that guy must not have passed math class. 9mpg would make more sense if he was running 35's, but i don't think that's the case. i have 3" with 265/75's on a 4x4 and i consistently got about 18.75mpg for my last 3 tanks. and that is a mixture of about 60% highway and 40% city.

I am averaging 17mpg when I correct for larger tires. I try to make lots of notes in my fuelly log. Check it out, set up your truck and monitor your current mileage, or just look at the other 600+ Tacomas on the site.

    3" lift, 33" mickey thompson mtz's, 16-18 mpg.
    stock was 18-20 mpg.
also, mileage was taken off the scan guage so the distance readings are correct.
