volant intake?

so, im thinking about buying the volant intake for my 4.0. ive heard that its a great intake, and that its even better with the underhood scoop.

ive also heard that for it to work i have to buy a maf calibrator or something like that? is that true? do i really need a $200 urd maf calibrator for something as simple as that?

i just want to know before i order it if i need to wait for another paycheck to hit the bank or not...

Yes:

The Volant runs very rich. Not so bad that it will cause your CEL to come on. But when ever the AFR readings are out of wack, it effects performance. Why pay for a $300 item that will not gain performance and possibly reduce it.

With the MAF Cali. or APR X-1, you can have it tuned to run the at it's optimum level, and and get some real gains.

I ran the volant for about a year, and had the scoop. Best intake as far as temps go. Always kept my intake temps right about even with ambient temps. But when I decided to go F/I, I was not willing to risk it effecting my AFR.

Hope this helps.

Just felt that the AFE, or TRD was a better set up, and TRD was not available, so AFE it is

You can bolt the intake on and possible have issues and you may not. at least with the MAF calibrator the intake will actually do something besides make noise.
