Deck Plate Question

First I did a lot of searching. Everything I found seems to be for the 1st gen Taco. I have a 2011 4.0L (Correction) Taco.
1) Can this be done?
2) Is there a good write up for it?
I was looking at CAI but if this works it will save me much $$$.
I did a similar upgrade to an F150 I had and it worked well. I don't offroad or cross rivers.
Thanks

Are you sure you have a 3.4L engine in your 2011 toyota tacoma?

If I am not going off road and this mod can be done, do i need the plate?

Unless they changed the design of the 2011, no. Removing the second air filter was always the "deckplate mod" of second gens.

So

So there is a second filter and I remove this it will give me similar results as a CAI or would a CAI be better? If the 1st where is the second filter is it easy to find? What are the consequences of removing this filter?
Thanks for the info.

Anyone have any thoughts on the CAI options for the 4.0?
Thanks

you already have a CAI. the stock airbox pulls from the fender. get a drop in like an AFE pro dry S and leave it at that. on my trip this weekend while on the highway, i was getting the intake temp as low as 6* over the ambient temp. most of the time it was around 10* higher.

also get rid of that paper weight whistle (helix power tower)
