i need ADVICE from experienced exhaust system buyers!!?

Hey guys iam planning on getting an exhaust system. decided iam ether getting a magnaflow or flowmaster 40 or 50... i dont wanna get ripped off and i wanna get my moneys worth.. anyway a guy told me some shops install something similar and call it a flowmaster or whatever but its not.. so how can i tell that it is? when i say i want an exhaust system what does it intail me getting? prices so far are 180 175 130 three diff shops.. and iam assuming the tip (most say get a 2-3 inch tip) comes sepporate from the price..

iam sorry iam kind of a newbe iam learning as i go. i dont have my dad or mechanically inhanced friends near by haha so iam relaing on what i learn on my own..

id just get a muffler welded on. Years back, I bought a cat back borla exhaust for $600ish(i forget the exact amount) and it didnt do anything preformance wise. Save the money and have just a muffler installed. Ive heard the flowmaster 50 series sounds good, but its all personal preferences. If I could do it all over again, I'd of just gone with the spintech that I wanted to do in the first place.

Those 130 and up prices are just for the muffler and rear section install.

First piece of advice... Do not get a Flowmaster or a Magnaflow! Especially Flow, useless on our trucks. And IMO they don't sound good either. I would suggest something with a straight through design that will give you a better rumble and even a little more power.

from my understanding, i thought the magnaflow does have a straight through design vs flowmasters double baffles?

Good call, I had the Magnaflow XL series on the mind when I wrote that... The majority of their mufflers are straight through design actually. Either way, I am still not a huge Magnaflow fan. If I were you, the ones I would consider would be Aero Turbine 2525, Wicked Flows, or a Dynomax Super Turbo. And I guess TRD if high volume isn't big on your list.
