I have searched far and near looking for gas stations that sell 100% gas and have found them lined up from where I live to the farthest locations I travel so I am good for now until the government makes every fuel station use that ole ethanol crap! I have also emailed or called my congressman and senators and urged them to stand up against the EPA and all this bull about putting even more ethanol mix in our gas. My truck (2001) can't handle more...my lawnmower, weedeater, and leafblower can't handle the 10% crap and I for one don't feel like going out and replacing a perfectly good piece of lawn equipment due to the engine blowing because of ethanol laced gas! You can look at my fuelly badge and see the benifits of using 100% gas as apposed to that ethanol crap! That ain't no 4-banger mpg either! Give us a choice...if you want to hug a tree and use the ethanol...good for you! For those of us that don't want to use the ethanol give us locations selling 100% gas and good for us. You can bet the tree huggers will win out in time...

Yup, you can't get real diesel anywhere here either, just the injector destroying ultra low sulfer crap

Hey cool, you're from Fresno! I lived there for 18 or so years. I hated it when I moved, but after visiting my parents this summer...man, I think a lot of the rude people must have moved further north. When I was visiting last year I got nothing but courteous behavior from random people...things like holding the door open and the like - never happened before I moved.

Have you noticed since they started (mandated) the use of ULSD you are starting to see a lot more diesel fuel fires when the trucks are involved in crashes? You never heard of a diesel catching on fire back in the day but every time you turn around you hear or see an accident where the truck goes up in smoke! MPG also sucks since they changed over! Pulling power isn't as good, and you are dropping injector's left and right. Now we have a regeneration process where all the bad stuff is captured in a special holding muffler and then as it begins to get full it does a burn at temps upwards of 1600 F. and incinerates anything that is left of the bad stuff. What is left over sits there till you do another burn and then it adds to what was there from the first burn. We now have a spark plug (on a diesel engine...actually in the exhaust system) that starts the burn by spraying a fine mist of diesel and then the spark plug does its thing and the burn starts. That is if everything is working right...NOT! Mine has shut down due to the system not being able to do a proper regeneration. The last time this happened, it cost $3900.00 just to rebuild the system. This didn't count the tow bill for the tractor and trailer for 75 miles and rental of another tractor while unit was repaired. All in the name of "fixing" what is wrong with the engines. You have heard of trickle down economics...that is when the high cost of doing business due to all the regulations imposed on us trickle's down in the form of higher cost to the consumer. Don't you just love it?

c005jjc- I was going to get into the trickle down econ comment but its to big for me to just to agree with you on how its running right now.

radioactivemint- I'd have to say Fresno's not quite my cup of tea. I have only been here 3 years. I am from far norcal, I am talking Chico/Redding area. Sure do miss that clean air up there. It's decent but I'd agree about how rude the people are here. I was probably one of the guys that held a door open.

I wasn't trying to bring up anything from the 80's although I did like those years very well...it's just now-a-days these baboon brained people get in D.C. and they forget they work for us...maybe I need to say that again... the people in D.C. from the President on down work for US...it is not the other way around! Causing problems for the working guy...which is most of us on here if not all of us...is not how you fix things. I guess using common sense is the right thing to do and is easily said...but hardly anyone inside the beltway has any common sense!!! I might not be a college graduate with a PhD in my pocket but I think I could do better than most of those clowns running this country by using common sense!

Regen sucks ass!!!!! Since the company I work for has bought this new truck back in 08 I have broke down 6 times due to the regen crap. And everytime the dealer points the finger to me saying I dont pay attention and avoid doing the regen. Just hook up the computer to it and do a manual regen and consider it solved. Im all for going green but this is crap. Selling new trucks with systems that dont even work.

This whole ethenol crap is also being done to big rigs. Our company has told us if we fuel at a truck stop with 15%Bio Diesel we have to pay for the new fuel filter once we get back in to the shop. I can just imagen if the filters are getting all gummed up can you imagen the fuel lines!!!

Just thought I would share whats going on in the trucking business.

I think you all are missing the fact they just got an ok from the EPA to mix up to 15% ethanol Im not happy about it.

I think an important distinction that has not been made here is cellulosic ethanol vs. corn ethanol. With cellulosic you essentially have much higher production, for much lower inputs, and you don't compete with food production.
It totally changes the equation. Corn based ethanol is a stepping stone.

Also, biodiesel does not gum anything up, it is a strong solvent. The gunk in your filter is the gunk that the diesel left in your tank, which was dissolved by the biodiesel and then caught by the filter. Its like running fuel system cleaner as fuel.

you can make our truck run on E85

it's the equivalent of 105 octane. aka $2 race gas. If you are TRD supercharged withe the APR 7th injector, it will help super cool the intercooler. The power gains are pretty awesome.

It's getting more and more popular in street cars with high power adders.

You have this backward. Cellulosic material has a much lower yield, with more processing.

And they will test to higher octane levels and higher cetane (diesel). And, alcohols (most biofuels) are more of a solvent than petroleum based fuels. Given that. Do not run high alcohol fuels in systems that are not designed for them.

Correct, the ONLY advantage E85 has is the fact that you can run full timing since it has a higher octane (det resistance), and it is ONLY beneficial in FI vehicles, also in So Cal the price is going through the roof on E85 because they know the performance crowd likes it, the price here on E85 is almost on par with regular gasoline and your using a great deal more (up to 30%) so in the end its very expensive if you drive any distance on a daily basis.

What a wonderful world we live in (as long as we dont pay attention to what is really going on)
