Hello all, forum looks like a good place. Anyway, Im looking into putting both on my 08 TRD sport, but between all the info here, talking to some shops and tech support at autoanything, Im pretty lost.

For CAI, was thinking K&N, then vorla, now wondering about AFE or URD.

    1) there doesnt seem to be a consensus on what you actually gain from one, so what should I expect?

    2) Do I need a MAF sensor?

Id rather not spend about $300 for a CAI, and then have to drop $200 for the MAF sensor, especially for no real performance increase.

For a catback system, there also seems to be disagreement as to whether its just for sound, or whether you gain HP and/or mileage. I was looking at Borla or magnaflow

    3) what can I really expect with a catback system?

    4) if they are worth it, can avoid any potential hassle by just going with TRD through the dealer?

    thanks

its probably the best sounding exhaust ive heard on a 2.7L. The headers are supposed to do more as far as performance is concerned.

I had the TRD CAI on my truck for awhile (installed by dealer) after a few months my check engine light came on and I took it back to the dealer. They had it for several days and did several different things but eventually the solution was to remove and go back to stock. At least the Toyota dealer refunded parts and labor to me in full. I would like to put one on but since I have failed once I have decided to just stick with stock.

what was I expecting? Maybe the claims made by the CAI and cat-back companies to not be complete BS and actually accomplish nothing but causing problems

    .
Installed K&N and Banks cat-back, intake gave it better throttle response and a few more HP, the cat-back is cool sounding with a tad more power, not huge, but it's noticeable, BUT, the CAI made the truck run too rich. MPG took a dive, I pulled it off because i'm moving right now and needed the stock MPG's. Gadget at URD says the MAF calibrator will correct the problem, so I will probably get that and hook my lapper up to it and fuck with it till I get what I want. The last thing will be some shorty headers and that will get about as much out of that engine without an SC.
