Im trying to decide between TRD Exhaust or Borla Exhaust, which are both Cat-Back, and i want to get a system which will improve my trucks performance and deepen the sound by a lot and of course making it louder. Pretty much which is better and will also take care of my truck? Im getting a TRD air intake from my dealer so i wanted to know if i should just get the exhaust as well. i live in California so i cant get the K&N 63 intake i wanted because its "illegal." thanks

Neither are gonna do much for peformance and the Borla catback is louder than the TRD

youll get a little better flow out of a borla but it is more quiet compared to the TRD because they have more of that "stuffing" material inside to cancel out the noise..i love my TRD exhaust though

Just put my Borla Turbo series muffler on this weekend.... It sounds awsome! nice a quiet when cruising but when taking off it sound deep and rumbly.:)
But not too loud that its annoying...

Does the Borla (TRD or Magnaflow) just make it sound like a 6 with indigestion or a decent low tone? Not exactly a v8 with decent CID, so kind of curious if it sounds 'muscle' or 'ricey?'

^^ Yep! verry happy with the sound....
Its not too loud to be annoying. and at cruising speed, (40-60mph) you can barely even hear it.
And it sounds awsome when you open it up. not sure how loud you want, but I think the Borla is plenty loud.

Hi everybody! I am brand new to this group and this is my first post and Im doing it from my droid phone lol! Now my post is a question about what exhaust i should do on my 2006 trd off road 4x4 access cab 4.0 6 speed tacoma. I love the sound of the trd and borla and the magnaflow sounds good too. I don't like the flowmaster sound on these at all. Iv watched tonsbof videos on YouTube of almost all the exhaust options for this truck. And i still can't decide what one is for me. I want the least amount of cab drone/noise possible and want good performance gains. Any suggestions? Help me?! Haha:confused:

Borla and Magnaflow are awesome exhausts, but also check out Gibson exhausts, they are less $ than Borla and Magnaflow and still an awesome sounding exhaust with no cab drone. Performance wise on any exhausts are very little unless you do headers and full exhaust swap, which then would probably give you about 20 more HP. Hope that helps ya out

I have the TRD. I'd probably go Borla if I had it to do over.

TRD is the way to go. Although its because its what I have and like the overall sound performance and look.

x2 on the gibson. I have one on my truck and its awesome. I get compliments all the time and there is no annoying drone. Sounds really good in the cab as well.

I love my TRD exhaust. Nice and quiet, low drone.

Hard to justify the price tag on it however.
