Let us know how it turns out. I thought a loss of backpressure would actually hurt these engines?

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Backpressure is caused by the muffler, cat, and restrictive headers. Backpressure induced by the x-pipe will be very minimal, but it will maintain/increase scavanging.

On a modern engine, any back pressure is bad. What hurts engine performance and efficiency is screwing with the scavenging ability.
