    ok now which pad goes where? theres 2 with a clip for R and L. do the pads with clips go n the inside or outside of the rotor?

    This is my first brake job dude, chill. I just dont wanna mess anything up. I need the learning eperience. everythings goin fine so far, but that didnt answer my question. I dont remeber which was which thats why im asking

    Should I be seeing the brake pads move against the caliper when i press the brakes? I would think so, but right now they dont seem to be moving.

    Thats what I meant, sorry, towards the rotor. yes the truck was running. We have the wheels off and turned the truck on and starting mashing the brakes. it didnt look like anything was moving. I think the master cylinder cap was still off when we first mashed the brakes a few times. does that have anything to do with it?

    1) Disassemble.
    2) Remove old pads and rotors.
    3) Install new pads and rotors.
    4) Reassemble.

    Well maybe they are okay then. they're pushed all the way against the rotor. I guess i just thought that the pads wouldnt be touching the rotor if the brake wasnt pressed, but what do i know.

    There should be clearance between the pads and rotors if the brake pedal is not depressed, and they should come in contact as you press the pedal.

    If this isn't happening, you have an issue. It sounds like for whatever reason the caliper hydraulics aren't functioning correctly.


    EDIT: If you take these for a test drive go SLOW! SLOW! If your front brakes aren't functioning correctly, you have about 20% braking power. Your stopping distance will be MUCH longer.

    Please note: Disclaimer: I recommend against test driving, but whatever you do you do it at your own risk.
